The Kaaba is a cuboid-shaped building in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and is the most sacred site in Islam. The Quran states that the Kaaba was constructed by Ibrahim and his son Ismaeel after the latter had settled in Arabia

The building has a mosque built around it, the Masjid al-Haram. All Muslims around the world face the Kaaba during prayers, no matter where they are. One of the Five Pillars of Is

lam requires every Muslim to perform the Hajj pilgrimage at least once in his or her lifetime if able to do so. Multiple parts of the Hajj require pilgrims to walk seven times around the Kaaba in a counter-clockwise direction (as viewed from above). This circumambulation, the Tawaf, is also performed by pilgrims during the Umrah (lesser pilgrimage).[2] However, the most dramatic times are during the Hajj, when about 6 million pilgrims gather to circle the building on the same day.

মক্তব থেকে এসে খলীফা উমারের ছেলে ফুঁপিয়ে ফুঁপিয়ে কাঁদছে। হযরত উমার তাকে কাছে টেনে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “কাঁদছো কেন বৎস”?

ছেলে উত্তর দিল, “সবাই আমাকে টিটকারী দেয়।” বলে, “দেখনা জামার ছিরি, চৌদ্দ জায়গায় তালি। বাপ নাকি আবার মুসলিম জাহানের শাসনকর্তা।” বলে ছেলেটি তার কান্নার মাত্রা আর বাড়িয়ে দিল।

ছেলের কথা শুনে হযরত উমার ভাবলেন কিছুক্ষণ। তারপর বায়তুল মালের কোষাধ্যক্ষকে লিখে পাঠালেন, “আমাকে আগামী মাসের ভাতা থেকে চার দিরহাম ধার দেবেন।” উত্তরে কোষাধ্যক্ষ তাঁকে লিখে জানালেন, “আপনি ধার নিতে পারেন। কিন্তু কাল যদি আপনি মরে যান তাহলে কে আপনার ধার শোধবে?”

হযরত উমার ছেলের গা-মাথা নেড়ে সান্ত্বনা দিয়ে বললেন, “যাও বাবা, যা আছে তা পরেই মক্তবে যাবে। আমাদের তো আর অনেক টাকা পয়সা নেই। আমি খলিফা সত্য, কিন্তু ধন সম্পদ তো সব জনসাধারণের।”
