Alah says: "2. Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: « We believe, » and will not be tested. 3. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allâh will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars," (Quran, 29:2)

A point to take: We should just know that thinking well of Allah (swt) should make us look beyond the test. This test is something from Allah (swt), and He wants to teach us, to purify us from sin, to strengthen us, and to bring us closer to Him. Allah is the Most Merciful of those who show Mercy. When we approach our tests with that frame of mind, we cannot but gain from our experience, insha’Allah.

So what does it mean to think well of Allah?

Allah says in the Holy Quran: "135. And those who, when they have committed Fâhishah (illegal sexual in*******se) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allâh and ask forgiveness for their sins; - and none can forgive sins but Allâh - and do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know. 136. For such, the reward is Forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing underneath (Paradise), wherein they shall abide forever. How excellent is this reward for the doers (who do righteous deeds according to Allâh’s Orders). (Quran, 3: 135-136)

It means to take that step. When we mess up by committing sins, even if we messed up in a major way, we return to Him. We return to Him recognizing that what we did was truly horrible, but we ask for His forgiveness because we know He is that forgiving, and that His Mercy encompasses everything. When we mess up again and again, and feel sick of ourselves, we return to Him with a sincere du’a (supplication) to help us stop, knowing that He will respond. It means having grand hopes and aspirations, and working towards them knowing that Allah (swt) “will not allow to be lost the reward of any who did well in deeds.” (Quran, 18:30)

How do we choose our friends?
Friendship are in different types. According to Islam, we must choose the friend that would benefit us, the one that would constantly help us to achieve piety, remember Allah, the one that wants you to enter Paradise with him/her. Nowadays, what I see, most people take friendship for other reasons like "for having fun," rather than for the interest in you. Good friends are those who share both happiness and sadness. Good friends are always the ones that are there for you when you are in trouble. If we share our feelings with the wrong companion, totally opposite from you, they may influence you in a bad way, you may end up being just like them, corrupted. This is why we must beware what friend we take.
Prophet Muhammad (saw) has said, "The believer is like a mirror to other believers (in truthfulness)." Like a mirror, your friend gives you an honest image. He forgives your mistakes, but does not hide or exaggerate your strengths and weaknesses.
Once Prophet Muhammad (saw) was asked, "What person can be the best friend?" "He who helps you remember Allah (SWT), and reminds you when you forget Him," the Prophet Muhammad (saw), counseled.
Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) said: "A friend cannot be considered a friend unless he is tested on three occasions: in time of need, behind your back and after your death."

"O young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice] : Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. If you (have need to) ask, ask of Allah; and if you seek help, seek help from Allah. Know that even if the Nation (or the whole community) were to gather together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you with anything except that which Allah has already recorded for you, and that if they gather together to harm you with something, they would not be able to harm you with anything except that which Allah has already recorded against you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried."

"38. qu’aucune [âme] ne portera le fardeau (le péché) d’autrui, 39. et qu’en vérité, l’homme n’obtient que [le fruit] de ses efforts; 40. et que son effort, en vérité, lui sera présenté (le jour du Jugement). 41. Ensuite il en sera récompensé pleinement." An-Najm 38-41

"ceux qui évitent les plus grands péchés ainsi que les turpitudes et [qui ne commettent] que des fautes légères. Certes, le pardon de Ton Seigneur est immense. C’est Lui qui vous connaît le mieux quand Il vous a produits de terre, et aussi quand vous étiez des embryons dans les ventres de vos mères. Ne vantez pas vous- mêmes votre pureté; c’est Lui qui connaît mieux ceux qui [Le] craignent."
