Epigenetics is the change in gene expression without the change in its sequence.
DNA methylation is the most common epigenetic mechanism.
This vedio describes some basics about DNA methylation and its applications

Being a chimera, her DNA profile showed that the children she gave birth with were not her own!

Hi guys!
just like sphinx. chimera refers to a single organism composed of cells with more than one distinct genotype.
A simple example is someone who performed an organ transplantation. This person becomes a chimera for having two different sets of DNA.

Stem cells vary according to their potency.
Totipotent stem cells can give rise to the whole by cells in addition to the placenta, but the unipotent can differentiate only to one cell type.
This vedio discusses stem cells, their potency, types and a breif overview about induced pluripotent stem cells and their applications.

The insensitivity caused by gene mutation is not a theory!
A patient with insensitivity was diagnosed with a mutation in FAAH-OUT and FAAH gene
Here are the mechanisms by which a mutation can cause insensitivity

Do you know FAAH gene?
This gene regulates many neurotransmitters in our bodies.
The interesting point here is that a mutation in that gene can cause lack of sensation!

Pseudogenes are nonfunctional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes.
Most of them arise as copies of functional genes, either by DNA duplication or by reverse transcription of an mRNA transcript.

All of us know that miRNA can inhibit gene expression by binding to the mRNA.
But did you know that miRNA can also bind to DNA and inhibit transcription of a gene?
