Gratitude is absolutely a choice. And it's never the wrong choice. Alhamdulilah.

Sometimes God removes what you were holding onto
because your heart was never meant to depend on it that heavily.

And in the emptiness, you finally pray the way you were always meant to.

أَمَّن يُجِيبُ الْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ
“Who responds to the desperate one when they call upon Him?” (Qur’an 27:62)

Imam Al Ghazali's reflection on what a good friend looks like. May God make us good friends to others and surround us with good friends as well.

Spring cleaning of the heart.

The ego of a religious person often does not abandon sin - it simply learns how to commit it in sacred language.

In one of his talks he gave after his ALS diagnosis, Ustadh Usama covered a variety of wisdoms, but this point on true gratitude resonated with me deeply. May Allah have mercy on him.

Ibn Ata Illah (r) said, "Do not let the gaze of people reside in your heart; they neither benefit you nor harm you before God." I've seen people ruin their lives by caring about what people think and making life decisions about things like piety, title, status, power, money, and how they're perceived. What a tragedy. May Allah protect us.

Don't get distracted from your blessings. The ego can convince you that you're being wronged when in reality, everything is alright

Learn to be content: your reaction does not alter the decree. Acceptance brings peace, while resentment brings trial; in either case Allah’s command is carried out.
