*Bylaws
The KSAALT bylaws (attached to the nomination e-mail), the governing document for the organization in line with both TESOL and TESOL Arabia, was expanded and ratified last year. This year, there will be only 3 minor modifications voted on which are:
1) Recognition of Yanbu as a KSAALT chapter throughout the document where chapters are mentioned.
2) Executive Council, Article IV, Section 1: "The Executive Council will remain a Council balanced in both gender and professional affiliation as much as possible for the growth and continuation of the organization."
3) KSAALT Annual Conference Committee, Article 7, section 3: "The KSAALT Conference and therefore Conference Committee can be held and sponsored by any recognized chapter in the Kingdom every other year with KSAALT-Khobar, the main chapter, sponsoring the event on alternate years."
**Election
Based on nominations of members in good standing for at least 90 days, the Executive Council election for the 3 officers (Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary) will take place via ballot on May 17, 2012 or electronically after the nominations close. Nominations are now open until midnight, May 12. All members in good standing for at least 30 days prior to the election (April 16) are eligible to vote. Guests and new members will not be allowed to vote on that day but are welcome to attend the meeting and presentation (35 SAR fee for monthly guests).
For those not interested in an elected position, there are several other opportunities to be active members of KSAALT. There are 3 members at large that can take several roles such as membership, public relations, newsletter editor, webmaster etc. These are non-voting positions that play a large role in the shape and vision of KSAALT. Also, you can be a member of an important committee such as conference, hospitality, membership or bylaws committees.
