Difference between NRV and PRV.

NRV: Pump → NRV → Pipeline
If the pump stops, the NRV closes and prevents water/oil from flowing backward into the pump.

PRV: Pipeline → PRV → Safe discharge
If pressure becomes higher than the preset value, the PRV opens and releases pressure to protect the system.

What is Lighting Arrester.

A lightning arrester is a protective device used in electrical systems to protect equipment from high-voltage surges caused by lightning or switching.

It works by providing a low-resistance path to earth (ground) when an excessive voltage occurs. Under normal voltage, it does not conduct. When a surge occurs, it diverts the surge current safely to ground.

Example:

In a power system, a lightning arrester is often installed near transformers. If lightning causes a voltage surge on the power line, the arrester sends the surge to earth, helping prevent damage to the transformer.
