Bring Out The "Best Parent" In You

09/06/2025

What kind of therapy does my child need? 💭💙

It’s a question so many parents ask—and there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Every child with autism is unique. Their needs, strengths, and struggles are different—and therapy should be too.

Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the most common types:

👐 Occupational Therapy (OT) – For kids who struggle with everyday tasks like dressing, writing, or managing sensory overload. OT builds independence and helps them feel more comfortable in their world.

🗣️ Speech & Language Therapy – For kids who need help expressing themselves, understanding others, or using words, pictures, or gestures to communicate. It’s not just about speech—it’s about connection.

🧠 ABA Therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis) – For building helpful behaviors and reducing challenges. Uses structure, routine, and positive reinforcement tailored to your child’s goals.

🎲 Play Therapy – For kids who need a safe, fun space to explore emotions, build relationships, and develop social skills—through play.

✨ You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Talk to a developmental pediatrician or therapist to find out what your child needs most right now. One small step can open big doors. 💛

🧠✨ Bakit Hindi Pa Ready si Baby for Speech Therapy? ✨🧠

Minsan ang sakit sa puso marinig na “di pa ready” si baby for speech therapy—lalo na kung as a parent, gusto mo na talaga siyang matulungan. 💬❤️

Pero eto ang totoo: speech therapy works best kung may certain basic skills na si kiddo. Kaya minsan, kailangan muna mag-antay.

❗️Here’s why therapists might say “not yet”:

➡️ Listening skills muna. Kung di pa nakikinig or di pa na-process ni baby yung words and cues, paano siya matututo?

➡️ Sitting skills din. Hindi lang ito basta “tumigil sa kakalakad.” It's about being ready to engage. Kung malikot, walang focus—walang progress.

➡️ Focus is key. Kung wala pang focus si baby, therapy will feel like background noise lang. Eh kailangan ng attention to copy sounds, respond, and connect.

💡 Good news? Pwede i-build muna 'tong skills na ‘to before actual therapy. Para kang nagpo-pour ng cement bago magpatayo ng bahay. 🏠✨

So kung sinabi ng therapist na “not yet,” hindi yun rejection. Hindi yun “wala nang pag-asa.” Ibig sabihin lang nun: “Let’s prepare more.”

Kaya kapit lang, mama at papa. Keep talking, keep playing, keep showing up. One step at a time lang. 💛

It’s not just play. It’s progress. 💙

At home, we don’t repeat activities just for the sake of it.
It’s not about “mastering the game” — it’s about mastering skills that matter for our AuSome kids. 🌈

🎯 Every activity we do has a purpose:
✅ Practicing sitting skills
✅ Building patience
✅ Learning to take turns
✅ Following instructions
✅ Strengthening focus and regulation

We don’t waste time doing things over and over with no direction.
Each repetition is a step toward independence, confidence, and connection. 💪

Because every little win counts in this journey. 💙
Let’s celebrate intentional play and purposeful progress!

Why Big Moves Like Climbing, trampolining, balancing matter for Ausome Kids 🧗‍♂️💪

Climbing, jumping, crawling—these aren’t just “play” for our ausome children. These big body movements help with:

✅ Building muscle strength
✅ Improving balance and coordination
✅ Releasing energy and reducing meltdowns
✅ Supporting focus and regulation
✅ Boosting confidence and independence

Let them climb (safely)! Let them move! It’s their way of learning and growing. Movement is medicine for the body and the brain. 💙
