😭 إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون 😭

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother and colleague, Sheikh Abdullah G. Mansaray, a student of King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He endured his illness with remarkable patience, unwavering faith, and complete trust in the decree of Allah. His character, humility, and gentle heart touched everyone who had the honor to know him. Truly, a light in this world has returned to its Creator.

We pray that Allah, the Most Merciful, forgive his shortcomings, illuminate his grave with light, and grant him the highest ranks of Al-Firdaws Al-A‘la. May He grant peace and strength to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Abha’s evenings are a masterpiece, draped in ethereal fog & clouds that weaves through the mountains, casting a mystical veil over the city. 🇸🇦😍

One evening in Madinah, ʿUbayy ibn Kaʿb (RA), a well known Companion of the Prophet ﷺ came to visit Caliph ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (RA). At the time, ʿUmar was seated in his simple room, reviewing matters of the state by the light of an oil lamp. The lamp’s oil, like the lamp itself, belonged to the Bayt al-Māl — the treasury of the Muslims.

As ʿUbayy entered, ʿUmar greeted him warmly and asked whether he had come for matters of the community or for something personal.

ʿUbayy replied, “It is something personal, O Commander of the Faithful.”

Upon hearing this, ʿUmar immediately reached forward and extinguished the lamp. The room was briefly enveloped in darkness. Then, from his own pocket, he brought out a small candle, purchased with his personal money, and lit it. Only then did he turn back to ʿUbayy and say, “Now you may speak.”

ʿUbayy was struck with amazement. “Why did you put out the other lamp, O ʿUmar?”

ʿUmar explained calmly:
“The oil of that lamp belongs to the Muslims. While I deal with their affairs, I may use it. But when it is a matter between you and me, something personal, then I cannot use the property of the Muslims. For this, I will use what belongs to me.”

“Umaru understands that leadership is not a privilege of power but a sacred trust; a trust that must never be broken or compromised, not even in the silence of the night when no one is watching.” Nothing was too small to be considered when it came to justice, even with the oil of a lamp. 🪔
