Every great film starts with a great story and that’s exactly where we begin.

This week, our students dove into screenplay development, breaking down structure, character, and storytelling fundamentals that will carry a project from the first page all the way to the final cut.

It’s not just about writing a script it’s about learning to see the whole picture: how every scene, every choice, every draft shapes the film we’ll eventually bring to screen.

From concept ➡️ screenplay ➡️ production. This is how the best stories get made one lesson, one draft, many discussion at a time.

Last week, we had the incredible privilege of hosting an inspiring masterclass with one of Africa’s finest film directors, Mandla Walter Dube (Mandla Walter Dube Dube), renowned for acclaimed productions such as Silverton Siege, Heart of the Hunter, and many more.

Spending time with a filmmaker of his caliber was more than just a workshop it was an opportunity to learn from years of experience, resilience, and creative excellence. Hearing his journey firsthand reminded us that great films are built not only on talent, but on vision, persistence, and purpose.

We were equally honored to welcome his longtime collaborator and friend, stunt coordinator Kabelo Mokoena Chalastane (KABELO MOKOENA CHALATSANE 🌍), whose impressive career includes work on international productions such as Mission: Impossible, Mad Max, The Mummy, Heart of the Hunter, and many others.

Together, they shared invaluable insights, practical knowledge, and words of encouragement that challenged us to think differently about filmmaking and the limitless possibilities within our craft.

Everyone who had the opportunity to be in that room left inspired, motivated, and equipped with a fresh perspective on what it truly means to be a filmmaker.

To Mandla Walter Dube and Kabelo Mokoena Chalastane, thank you for investing your time, your wisdom, and your experience in our community. Your generosity in sharing your journey will continue to inspire the next generation of African storytellers. We are deeply grateful.

Here’s to telling stories that move the world.
