Recently, we did a quick scan of STEM education across East Africa, and our findings were impressive!
Each country is increasingly prioritizing STEM education in ways that reflect its own national needs and priorities. What stood out to us is how cross-cutting STEM has become, from healthcare and agriculture to technology, innovation, and beyond.
There’s so much happening across the region, and we’re excited to keep learning, connecting the dots, and exploring what this means for the future of STEM education in East Africa.

Congratulations to our STEM Club alumna, Oda Kalene Tuyishime!
We are proud to celebrate Oda, a STEM Club alumna from Groupe Scolaire Notre Dame de Lourdes de Byimana, who participated in a hackathon organized by Google, Rwanda Olympiad Foundation, Africa Olympiad Academy, and MINICT at ALX Rwanda.
Oda and her team took home 1st place! 🏆
Their teamwork and problem-solving skills stood out, and they were awarded exciting prizes for their achievement.

Last week, our STEM facilitators came together for a two-day training on Project-Based Learning (PBL).
During the training, they explored the PBL model and became familiar with the STEM kits they will use during implementation. They will continue preparing and practicing with the model ahead of the teachers’ training in August and the launch of the Step Into STEM program.
We’re excited to see our facilitators bring this approach to life and support more students through hands-on, engaging STEM learning!

Before the academic holidays, our STEM Club students came together to celebrate their achievements, present the projects they have been working on, and mark an important end-of-academic-year milestone with their Step Into STEM facilitators and teachers.
It was wonderful to see the smiles, excitement, and joy as the students celebrated all they have accomplished together.
We are so proud of their hard work, creativity, and curiosity!
