Joyce and Bill Cummings, along with fellow Cummings Foundation trustee Dr. Arlan Fuller, had the pleasure Saturday of spending time with four remarkable medical students from University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda. They are in Boston for clinical rotations through the Paul Farmer Collaborative at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Paul Farmer believed deeply that health care is a fundamental human right. It is heartening to see that conviction carried forward by such an impressive next generation of physicians.

celebrated the graduation of its third cohort of entrepreneurs from Burera District through the Entrepreneurship Training Program, implemented in partnership with Inkomoko. The program equipped 91 local entrepreneurs with business skills, helping strengthen enterprises and create jobs across their communities.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Philip Cotton reaffirmed the university’s commitment to entrepreneurship as a driver of healthier, more resilient communities. Managing Director Emmanuel Mugabo encouraged graduates to apply and share their new skills, while Burera District Vice Mayor for Economic Development Jean Baptiste Nshimiyimana highlighted the district’s job creation progress and urged graduates to embrace regulation, cleanliness, and saving.

Congratulations to all 91 graduates as they take the next step in growing businesses, creating jobs, and contributing to the development of their communities.

The UGHE community gathered at the Kigali Genocide Memorial
to mark .

Students, faculty, and staff stood in solemn reflection and laid wreaths in honor of more than 1 million innocent lives lost in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

We were deeply privileged to be joined by guest speaker Tom Ndahiro, whose reflections brought profound depth to our collective act of remembrance.
