📖 GALATIANS 6
[1] Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
[2] Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
[7] Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
[8] For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
[9] And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
[10] Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
[14] But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
[18] Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
Beloved of God, peace be unto you.
We are coming to the end of the epistle to Galatians. After earnestly preaching that we are saved by grace through faith, Paul asked church members not to be selfish and to do good to others.
1️⃣RESTORE THE LOST WITH GENTLENESS, WHILE HELPING ONE ANOTHER (6:1-6)
📍Here Paul talks of two people: a believer like you who is overtaken in a trespass, and yourself when you are overtaken in a trespass. You are sharing the journey to heaven with that person, you are members of one body of Christ; do not forsake him, be close to him, in gentleness and love.
Let us bear one another’s burdens (Spiritually and physically), let the pain of another make you sleepless.
📍He also urges Christians to examine themselves, so that none thinks in Christianity he is above others (spiritual pride). That will have a negative impact not only on him but will prevent others to be closer to the Savior. You find sometimes us enthusiastic about bearing others’ burdens, but refuse their help, and we think we are enough, or better than others. No one is immune to falling into sin watch your goal.
👉🏾Let us keep in mind that there are some burdens others cannot share. But Christ can free us from those as He invited us himself in Matthew 11:28
2️⃣WHAT YOU SOW YOU WILL REAP ( 6:7-10)
📍God is not mocked. You cannot ignore Him or his law and be at peace. God is a fair judge.
📍And what we sow we shall reap. We have power to choose what to do but we do not have power to choose consequences of our acts. When consequences are bad, let us not lose hope and leave God, but let us rejoice in Christ that we have been forgiven.
👉🏾Though your actions may lead to diseases, punishment… continue to seek God.
📍Verse 10 reminds us to do good to all, even to those who are of the household of faith.
Every man has been created in the image of God. Forgetting that make some Christians fall into the trap of segregating the skin color or ethnic background, or segregation based on gender, wealth or poverty, religious denominations, different tests that distinguish them… It is a tragedy, shameful for a Christian to fall into that terrible trap.
3️⃣JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH (6:11-18)
📍Paul does not want Galatians to conclude that God rejoices in non-circumcision. Bur he wants them to keep in mind that the cross of Christ is the only thing to boast in. When He went to the cross He drew to himself all men, so He can restore in us the original holiness. On the cross mercy and truth met, and justice and peace embraced each other. That is the foundation of our salvation.
What you do or fail to do doesn’t justify you. 📍In being born again, our lifestyle and character will prove it.
📍Paul talked again about what his enemies where forcing people to do concerning circumcision and Jewish ceremonies. He said I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. He was persecuted for the sake of Christ that is what they were trying to avoid. What have you done for Christ?
⚠Dear Brethren, in the end we are reminded that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ and what he has done for us. But we have seen and continue to see that the character of a justified Christian make even those surrounding him be reached by his love, and his humility make people want to stay with him in the house of God. Let none boast in his own deeds, but let us all boast in what Christ has done for us.
📍MAY THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST BE WITH OUR HEARTS. AMEN.🙏
