We had a cool show program:

- Stand-up
- Karaoke Battle
- And a fun dancing at the end of the birthday.

From 4 April to 8 April, in Moscow took place the Spring Regional Meeting - one of the most unforgettable events at BEST!
On the first day our delegates went to the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. It was very awesome to learn more about the university and about how to enter it, as well as to become part of a great tour, to get acquainted with amazing inventions.

The next morning took place the official opening, began the sessions, during which our delegates acquired irreplaceable skills. Also, besties prepared for the upcoming General Meeting, reviewed the reports and proposals for improving the activities of BEST.

One of the most memorable moments of RM was the acquaintance with various international departments of BEST` a.

RM (Regional Meeting) - this is the event, in which should participate every member of BEST. It is here that you learn a lot about the international BEST, pump yourself and get valuable contacts. Thank you very much to the organizers of LBG Moscow for this unforgettable event!

Self-management week.

From 25 to 31 March BEST Ekaterinburg had an unforgettable week of self-government, which began with the selection of a new (weekly) Board.

During the week, the guys who took the positions of President, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-presidents of PR, CR and HR departments had an amazing opportunity to try themselves as managers, to look at the work of the local group from the inside, to organize a variety of meetings and training events.

Victoria, who took the position of Vice-President of PR-Department, shares her impressions:

We started our work with the meeting of the "new" Board: set goals, assigned all duties and tasks, made a schedule for the week, prepared for the LBG meeting and much more. All the days were very intense: I had the experience of holding a meeting in the PR Department and even training in photoshop, it was unusual and very useful!

During the week, our eXXcluded Board worked together: we always came to each other's aid, and I really loved these people. I hope that we will have an opportunity to work together again. Thank you LBG Eka for such a wonderful opportunity!

The week ended with the bu****it Local General Assembly (LGA), where the guys who ran the organization during these five days presented reports on their work and discussed the mistakes made. We hope that this week has become useful and motivating for members and we are waiting for them in may at applying in a real Board.

In last week our local BEST group had been recruiting new members. During the recruitment we told students about BEST and our activities, during case studies and interviews we got to know the guys better, found out about their teamwork and personal qualities.

Congratulations to all those for whom amazing BEST-life is about to begin, and we wish the rest not to get upset, because we are waiting for them on our Autumn recruitment!

From January 27 to February 5, the Winter academic course dedicated to locomotives was held in USURT. The organizers share their impressions:

My name is Anastasia Latkina, I was the main organizer of our crazy Winter academic course.
This year, students from 12 different countries from Canada to Turkey came to us to study the basics of Railways at our University for 10 days, to visit various companies working in the field of railway, and at the end to protect the unique projects of their own trains.
These days were filled not only with the academic part, but also with fun evenings, daytime activities: quests, paintball, a visit to the Yeltsin center. We showed all the sights of our city from Vysotsky to the Temple on the blood.
All foreigners liked it very much, and the members of our organization are very motivated to participate in international events.

Julia, logistic responsible:

In my life it was the first BEST-course, where I immediately acted as an organizer. Throughout the course I constantly spent time with foreign students. For 10 days I was so attached to the guys that it was very difficult to say goodbye. This course left a lot of impressions and pleasant memories, I look forward to the next one!

EBEC-2018

In December students of USURT immerse into the atmosphere of the Engineering Competition "EBEC-2018", which have not been held since 2015.

The competition was attended by 84 students of both technical and economic areas. The highlight of the event was a team of students from China studying at the USURT.

Future engineers tried themselves in team design (Team design), realized a creative idea from the proposed materials. Economists had to show their imagination and analytical skills after during a business game (Case study).

The EBEC Engineering Competition gave each participant the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice, to develop, assemble and launch their own unique mechanism or find non-standard methods for solving an economic problem.

"This is a wonderful competition. The first time I took part in such an event and I really liked it. These were the three most intense days in my life. We worked as a team, solved a business case provided by the company "Motive". We took the third place, this, of course, is not the first, but also not bad. We were awarded with gifts and medals. Next year, we will definitely come back for the victory" - Julia Kuzevanova, participant of the competition, shared her impressions.
The fight for the main prize was very tense, all the teams were impressive in their own way, but nevertheless the jury managed to identify the undoubted leaders. They are the teams:

1st place in Team Design:
E-team USURT composed of: captain Ilya Reshetov, Dmitry Makeev, Ilya Steinikov, Anna Kuklina.

The “Granit of Science” team was leading in the cases: captain Marina Kuznetsova, Sofia Milovanova, Alina Gladkikh, Anna Riaposova.

All winners and prize-winners were personally awarded by the rector of the USURT Alexander Gennadievich Galkin.

"This project is aimed at all technical students, regardless of their specialty. Participation in these competitions can help students develop themselves and reach any level, even international, as well as attract the attention of leading employers" - the rector of the USURT A.G. Galkin summed up the competition.

Well, we congratulate the guys on the victory, we wish them continued success and look forward to the next stage Engineering Competitions - EBEC Russia!

Cultural Exchange

In November we had a Cultural Exchange during which students from other countries were able to meet Yekaterinburg. One of them, Vanya Vargek, shared his impressions:

"The only thing I can think about right now is ... How six days completely with strangers can be so powerful, helpful, friendly, fun, full of emotions and impressions.

This is not the first Cultural Exchange for me, but this year everything was just great! I want to thank the entire Local BEST group of Ekaterinburg. You reminded me why I decided to become part of the BEST world. Thanks to everyone who spent time with us, shared his experience and amused us! I don’t have enough words to convey all that was happening to me these days: I looked at Russia from the other side, visited historical places of Yekaterinburg, discovered a lot of new things!

During this Cultural Exchange, I did everything to feel my life to the maximum. Now I am crying because I am happy to have spent these fantastic six days with you!

I finish this letter just when the pilot of the aircraft warns that we are going to land in Leipzig, Germany. It's time to return to real life, but the show must go on - see you in Europe!"
