Well, yesterday was really wonderful, because lots of different events happened!

For example:

❗The Trusteeship Council adopted a draft resolution and the only amendment;

❗During the press conferences, the delegates of UNESCO and the Central Committee of the VKOZ discussed issues of cooperation and further rapprochement;

❗One more representative of the Russian Federation in the IMF appeared;

❗One of the delegates gave other cookies with UN symbols;

❗There were some rumors about the dissolution of CNN;

❗The UK supported Westeros.

Here comes the end of the second day of the VolgMUN'19! This day was full of events no less than the last!

Today, the following happened:

✔ The first block of meetings passed;
✔ A press conference was gathered;
✔ Coalitions were formed for making a future resolution;
✔ One delegate was lost;
✔ Was raised the question about the inclusion of Westeros in the UN.

UNESCO delegates made various suggestions for the safety of UNESCO monuments.
✅First of all, delegates identified the main threats to cultural heritage sites:
✔ Threat for climate;
✔ Active tourist traffic;
✔ Terrorist threats;
✅ Finland has put forward a proposal for transfering cultural sites to the Internet.
✅Venezuela insisted on moving the monuments to a safer place for their preservation while it is unable to finance the project.
✅The delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in its speech called to fight against terrorism and capitalism, which badly affect cultural monuments.
✅China suggested the use of modern technologies, such as drones, blockchain, 3D modeling, panoramic images, in the preservation of cultural values.

The Trusteeship Council held the first block of meetings.
The agenda was the freedom of East Timor. After the speeches of several delegates, the countries did not reach a consensus.
✅France and a number of countries accuse Indonesia of carrying out wars in East Timor, as well as owning concentration camps.
✅Indonesia denies all facts of aggression.
✅ Liberia is in a neutral position, stating that their country will not provide any financial or agricultural support.
✅Indonesia was outraged by this fact, because "without bananas it’s very difficult to solve issues."

After the meeting, a press conference was held, where journalists clarified the positions of all the countries.

International Monetary Fund held a mock-session.
This event is based on showing the new members the work of the committee.
Delegates were told that the IMF was not adopting a resolution, but a “comunike”, so the same thing would be done on the UN Model.
Next, an agenda was “Changing the name of countries and capitals as a threat to world order”. The representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina put forward his position, which caused a strong reaction among the delegates.

We remind you again that VolgMUN'19 is leading the recruitment of participants to the "Journalism" section!

This committee will work for the fourth time here.

📎 Interested in the activities of the world media;
📎 If you want to be in the very center of the brightest events that take place during the meetings of the representatives of the world community, then you should definitely make an application to us.

Not only students of specialized faculties can be journalists of the VolgMUN'19, but also high school students and students of other specialties. The main thing is your desire, and our chief editors, who have an experience of participation in this section, will teach you everything and will conduct series of trainings preceding the Model.

The main task of the committee members will be the creation of news that defines the direction of social thought. To do this, all journalists are divided into several teams - 3 well-known media with different points of view on world events. Each team will include 7 journalists, 1 photographer, and will be headed by its own chief editor.

Throughout the Model, this participants will create materials that are as close as possible to the position of a particular publication. This year, there will be such media as: CNN (American media), RT (Russian media), Xinhua (Chinese media). We have already introduced you to the chief editors of this media (https://vk.com/volgmun34?w=wall-112052878_1511).

Therefore, it’s up to you, which of them to represent! The main thing is to have time to submit an application and complete a small competitive task!

The UN model is getting closer and, probably, everyone has already remembered the name of the committees, understood the principle of their work and chose a committee! Therefore, in order to increase your knowledge of the events taking place in the UN, we are going to introduce you a new heading - “Important UN Events”.

The rapid development of artificial intelligence, robotics and other information technologies leads to the fact that humanity is approaching a new stage of development, on which the habitual way of life changes. These are the ways of training, professions and life. Whether we like it or not, these changes are already occurring. Perhaps while you are reading this, someone is making another discovery.
But another important question is that: Are we ready for transformations affecting our whole life?

This is the issue that concerns the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The UNESCO mandate requires the inclusion of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing issues of inequality of access to knowledge, as well as to ensure, that AI does not widen technological differences between countries. "AI for all" is the goal. Everyone can use the benefits of the technological revolution.

UNESCO will bring together all stakeholders at the conference. The conference will facilitate dialogue among stakeholder groups about the potential benefits and challenges of AI. Discussions will be focused on universal aspects of AI, ethical approach to the principles and structures of AI, based on international cooperation.
