👁️‍🗨️On World Obesity Day, WILLAK medical initiative against rheumatism would like to share a few thoughts on obesity.

💠Obesity is a major but modifiable risk factor for the development and progression of rheumatic diseases. Obesity is one of the primary risk factor, acting through both metabolic inflammation and excessive mechanical joint loading.

📶Rheumatic diseases like, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and gout, progresses in low-grade inflammatory state, adipokines and causes increased mechanical stress on joints.

🚹Weight loss is strongly associated with improved clinical outcomes, including higher rates of treatment success and reduced disease severity in arthritis patients.

🥬🍇🥔Dietary Changes:
Reduce calories, increase fiber and limit sugar and fats intake

🚴🏻‍♂️⛹🏽‍♂️🏃🏽‍➡️Physical Activity:
Regular exercise at least 150 moderate intensity per week, reduce sendentary activity and incorporate movement

💆🏼‍♂️🛌Behavioral and Lifestyle Changes:
Mindful eating, sleep quality, stress management can be very beneficial.

Consult a doctor or a specialist in weight management.

Artificial intelligence is shaping many sectors including education and health.

It was a pleasure to participate in the REC Tulatech where groundbreaking research were presents at the Tula Science Week (Octave cluster). The potential of the Tula region in the field of high technologies, import-export substitution and medicine was demonstrated.

The activities of the world-class scientific and educational center “Tulatech”
are shaping a new image of the region in the industrial, scientific and educational spheres.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition, which means it’s caused by the immune system attacking healthy body tissue.

According to Over 18 million people are living with Rheumatoid Arthritis. About 70% of people living with rheumatoid arthritis are women, and 55% are older than 55 years.

Major contributors include smoking, genetic factors (HLA-DRB1and4), hormonal changes, and microbial imbalances. 

Early detection is crucial to prevent permanent joint damage. Common early indicators often include stiffness 30–60 minutes or longer in smaller joints often in the hands, Difficulty with daily tasks like gripping objects, opening jars, or bending knees. along with unexplained, persistent fatigue, fever, loss of appetite, and reduced range of motion.

Diagnosing rheumatoid arthritis quickly is important, because early treatment can prevent it getting worse and reduce the risk of joint damage.

I had the pleasure of presenting my Abstract “Assessment of the Disparityand Impact of rheumatology care in Africa” at The 3rd UNITAR International Research Conference, held in the United Nations House Brussels, Belgium on 3 - 4 December 2025

The Conference brought together a global community of researchers, practitioners, and learners committed to advancing capacities aligned with UN and the UN sustainable development goals .

Through interdisciplinary dialogue, the conference explored how evidence-based knowledge can empower individuals (SO1), strengthen institutions (SO2), and reinforce the development of robust learning ecosystems (SO3) in support of the 2030 Agenda, the Pact for the Future, and the broader aims of UN 2.0.

Participants engaged in exchanges that connected academic insights with real-world needs, underscoring the critical role of universities, experts, and public institutions in shaping innovative and ethical solutions to global challenges.

Discussions highlighted digital transformation, the expansion of accessible and future-oriented learning, and the importance of shared platforms that enhance UN capacity-building efforts and promote best practices (SO4).


During the conference and reaffirmed the value of collaborative research, cross-sector partnerships, and collective learning in driving resilient, informed, and forward-looking societies.
