🍪 Hygge time: interview with Nikita Popov on the life in Switzerland, career, family values and traditions
GSOM Family is a big family, members of which live all around the world. On the threshold of New Year and Christmas we talked to Nikita Popov, Master program alumni of the year 2011, Strategy Advisor to Chief Digital Officer at Novartis (Switzerland). He, along with his spouse, graduated from GSOM SPbU, worked in Moscow and moved to Europe. In an interview, Nikita talked about professional development after graduation, and also about family, traditions, children and life in Switzerland.

🚀 GSOM SPbU has improved its place in the Financial Times European Business School ranking 2020.
School took a record 51st position in the overall European ranking, having risen by eight points compared to last year. The Financial Times rankings are an international and accepted quality mark for business education programs.
The final place in the ranking is influenced by such criteria as
- the average income level, salary and career growth of alumni within three years after the end of the program,
- the degree of international academic mobility,
- the level of scientific research at the school,
- the percentage of faculty with a scientific degree, and others.
💬 “GSOM SPbU constantly updates educational programs so that our alumni are in demand in the labor market, and leading employers from all over the world would like to have such specialists. The ranking results are an indicator that we are going in the right direction,” said Olga Dergunova, Deputy President and Chairman of the Management Board of VTB Bank, Director of GSOM SPbU.

🎯 GSOM SPbU launches a pilot course on professional project support
The Center for Entrepreneurship of GSOM SPbU has launched a pilot online course, School of Tracking. Participants will use the tools of professional support for student projects of the laboratory .
💬 “The tracker is a versatile specialist who helps companies and startups to solve pressing growth problems. He knows how to achieve this goal with minimal cost, using knowledge from the theory and practice of business, marketing and working with a product. The tracker focuses the business founder on the current goal of the company / project, helps to identify bottlenecks and ways to eliminate them, and then accompanies the founder in the process of achieving this goal using tracking techniques, ” said Anastasia Laskovaya, course developer, Assistant Professor at the Department of Strategic and International Management, Researcher at the Center for Entrepreneurship of the GSOM SPbU
The first group of the pilot course included students and alumni of GSOM SPbU. This versatile team will help the developers to adjust the further development of the program.

Today we'll tell you a little more about it.
The Center for Entrepreneurship is one of the 6 research centers of GSOM SPbSU. It unite and concentrate GSOM faculty, alumni, post-graduates and undergraduate students’. The purpose of the Center is to create, systematize and disseminate knowledge about entrepreneurship.
But GSOM continues to evolve. 💪🏻 Among the new initiatives of the Center for 2020-2021 there is
- the creation of a start-up studio, uniting entrepreneur-alumni of GSOM, who serve as mentors for students with entrepreneurial aspirations and ideas for their own business projects
- a tracking school (training in professional support of projects to achieve goals more quickly)
- new research initiatives based on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor and empirical data on Russian entrepreneurial firms.
