On June 14, students of the St. Petersburg Medical and Social Institute held a donation campaign at a blood transfusion station and became participants in a city event dedicated to World Blood Donor Day.

The word "donor" itself comes from the Latin "danare" โ€“ to give, because donors often give others not only blood, but also life. Donation saves thousands of people every day, but every year more and more free blood is needed. Transfusion helps to prolong life, is an integral part of some surgical procedures, during natural disasters and catastrophes.

When is it customary to celebrate a holiday?
The date of the celebration of the World Blood Donor Day, fixed since 2005. It is celebrated annually on June 14th.

๐Ÿ“ŒThe history of the holiday!
