🌿Sustainable startup from Russia: how can bugs be useful for plastic recycling at home and in the office?
⠀
The problem of plastic pollution becomes more and more meaningful for many of us. Fortunately, there're a few ways to reduce our negative impact on the planet, and one of them is really unusual - using bugs for recycling. So, scientists from Yakutia, Russia, made a research on plastic-eating insects, found the best ones for recycling and created a socially significant environmental startup "Xenos".
⠀
How does it work? Plastic is degraded due to the action of internal bacteria of Sophobas morio - bugs, which play the biggest role in the recycling process. The researchers calculated that 100 bugs consume more than 300 grams of different plastic in 12 hours (polystyrene and polyethene which is used for the plastic bags). 'Xenobox', a box where bugs live, has three sections. Each of them is a house for about 300 bugs. This amount is enough to help a family of 3-4 people recycle household plastic: bags, packaging made of polystyrene and polyethene. Actually, everyone can buy a 'Xenobox', its price is about $80.
⠀
The project has already been awarded at the annual republican exhibition Sakha Innovation 2021, and the startup's CEO, Evgeny Popov, was also awarded as the best inventor.
⠀
✅We hope, this idea will continue to develop and grow, as it's a great example of a sustainable and innovative approach toward our future!
📌If you want to intern in the sphere of sustainability, message us and will find the best internship for you!

✨Top-5 tips for interns
⠀
An internship is an important step in everyone's career. The first work experience may influence your network, attitude to work and professional interests. We advise not to neglect just a few rules that will make your internship experience the best for you.
⠀
📌Accept all assignments
When you just start your internship, many tasks seem boring and usual. Even if the assignment doesn't seem interesting to you, be ready to perform the job and show that you're willing to work as part of the team and do whatever the company needs.
⠀
📌Communicate clearly
Don't forget that clear communication is the key to good relationships with your supervisor. So, focus on your communication skills, both written and verbal and choose respectful language at all times. Don't be shy to ask for clarification and work as a team member. When you complete the task, notify your supervisor and clearly explain what was done.
⠀
📌Ask for feedback
Organise feedback meetings with your supervisor and colleagues weekly or monthly, so it will help you to track your success. A bit of constructive criticism is always helpful to develop and improve your skillset before moving on to your full-time position.
⠀
📌Build your network
Communicate more with your colleagues and take part in all the meetings (especially informal). These relationships may be very useful even after your internship ends. The more professional connections you have, the better, as it opens more opportunities for professional development.
⠀
📌Leave on a good note
When your internship is over and it's time to leave, thank your colleagues and supervisor for the support, a great time together and professional insights. It's always nice to stay in touch with colleagues, so they may inform you about future opportunities and provide a reference.
⠀
✅Choose the right tactics for your internship and be in control of the process. The results of your internship mainly depend on you, so don't be shy and show yourself!

🤩Success story from our intern in medical research!
Dear friends, we’re happy to share with you the review from our intern Karen Eleanor Rawlinson (USA). She started her internship in Saint Petersburg in autumn 2021 and received valuable experience which is also meaningful for many people living all over the world. The time spent in Russia became memorable for Karen as it broke lots of stereotypes and opened a new view of Russia!
📌Don’t forget, we’re still working for you now, so you can join our internships in Moscow or Saint Petersburg 😊
And now read what Karen says about her experience:
‘My internship was in an oncological research lab where I worked alongside a team to help them run experiments in a long-term study. I was responsible for setting up and implementing daily experiments, processing samples, and entering data into the database.
Before arriving, I had all the classic stereotypes of Russia, and while I saw no bears and drank only a little vodka, Russia had so much else to offer. Saint Petersburg was the most beautiful city I've ever seen and continuously surprised me with its history and detail. I loved my time in Russia and made many close connections who I hope to see again someday…’

🤩How to stay happy at a workplace?
Sometimes, routine and countless tasks make us feel frustrated and exhausted when we get to work. Days off are not a solution if you're constantly feeling unhappy at work. Here're a few tips that will help to make your workdays much brighter and more enjoyable!
📌Focus on your career development
Quite often, the level of your happiness at work is directly connected to еру quality of tasks, your colleagues, and the general atmosphere at a company. If you feel that you can learn a lot here, develop your skill and find support among mentors, it will raise your chances to feel happy! So, seek professional development at a company, as it combines all the factors.
📌Find what motivates you the most
Many employees are unhappy at work because they don't really know why do they do this job and what they like the most here. The lack of intrinsic motivation is the key to disappointment about your job and the function itself. We advise thinking a bit about the real meaning of 'enjoyment' and 'success' to you. The insights you get will help you to see how it relates to your work.
📌Find friends at work
At work, we really need friends and advisors to discuss ideas, brainstorm, cheer us up, help us find solutions and just feel relaxed and confident. Building your network will definitely help to find meaningful relationships with people you support and respect. This friendship will give you a lot of happiness and bright memories.

🤖How can robots help us in building careers?
⠀
Artificial intelligence isn't the technology for only IT solutions, it's a great instrument for all the spheres (even including Human Resources. Interesting fact: according to the research conducted by Oracle and Workplace Intelligence, 75% of employees are ready to change careers based on the recommendations of robots.
⠀
That's what the survey also showed:
📌85% of employees want AI to help them with future plans, career shifts, etc.
📌82% believe that AI can is better than humans in the questions of future plans and predictions
📌47% of participants say their companies are already using AI as HR and recruitment solutions
📌However, in 31% of organizations, such initiatives haven't been discussed yet
⠀
The survey was conducted among 14,639 executives, managers and employees of hundreds of companies around the world. Researchers believe that a high level of trust towards AI can be explained by the pandemic and the transition to hybrid and remote forms of employment.
⠀
At the same time, AI-driven recruitment experiments aren't always successful. For example, Amazon had to close down a machine learning project as part of its recruitment process, as the software gave a preference to men rather than women. So, in 2020, the New York City government introduced a requirement for employers: now companies have to conduct an annual audit to prove that the use of technology in employment does not lead to any bias.
⠀
❓Would you like to use robots and AI for your career development?

❓Questions from interns or junior specialists. Do I need to write a cover letter?
⠀
We advise to attach a cover letter if you find a vacancy that you're really interested in (so, you like both the function and the company). If you're just mailing your CV to many companies at the time, there's no need to provide CL every time, polite greeting would be enough.
⠀
If you understand that that the vacancy of your dream, write an original letter showing your interest in the vacancy and company. In reality, many job seekers show a low level of motivation as they use general phrases in CL. No doubts, both recruiters and managers would prefer to hire a person who sincerely wants to work in a particular company, so be creative and sincere. By the way, a few words about sincerity. Try to be honest and don't overload the letter with compliments.Focus on your motivation, interest and real desire to work in the company.

✅Questions from interns or junior specialists. СV
⠀
Creating a CV is the first step towards a career start. On this step, many young specialists ask the same question: how to make a CV clear and attractive for HR, if I have little experience? Save this post and we will post more advice for young specialists. And now we're happy to share a few useful tips with you.
⠀
📌Specify the projects that you worked on
⠀
To make your CV sound more professional, avoid using general phrases or titles as 'Marketing Intern, worked on website update and pricing'. It is better to write about the projects you participated in, specify the role you played and focus on the results you achieved.
⠀
📌Don't use skill bars in your resume
⠀
Some websites offer resume templates with infographic blocks and that's easy for students to fill them in. It looks beautiful, but in fact, it's hard for recruiters to assess the candidate's 'Excel skills' when the scale is half full. All these scales represent your self-esteem rather than real knowledge. So, if you have a certificate confirming the level of proficiency in a particular tool and language, it's better to mention it to increase the trust in your skills.
⠀
📌Tailor your CV
⠀
First of all, highlight the activities and achievements that are connected with the vacancy you apply for, so your CV will look more professional. Secondly, learn more about the company's website and social media accounts to better understand the field. It will help to make sure your CV is targeted to the role and employer.
