In mythology and the study of folklore and religion, a trickster😎 is a character in a story who exhibits a great degree of intellect🧐 or secret knowledgeℹ️ and uses it to play tricks🎩 or otherwise disobey🔀 normal rules and defy conventional behavior😈

We know and love tricksters from films and books. Here are some of the known ones:

Are there any Russian 🇷🇺 tricksters? Heh, sure thing!

1. Ostap Bender - the most famous one. Everybody in Russia knows the book and movie "12 chairs" by Ilf and Petrov and its famous character, that tried to get a fortune by searching for the diamonds💎hidden in one of 12 chairs before the bolshevik revolution.

2. Edik Letov - the most charming one.
Eduard from "Roots" ("Бедные родственники" - Russian title) is a modern version of Ostap Bender, only even more charming and handsome 😍 He tries to find lost relatives of wealthy people.

3. Platon Makovsky - the richest one. Makovsky's character in "Tycoon" 🤑had the most known prototype - Boris Berezovsky. Nicely directed by one of my favorite Russian directors Pavel Lungin, the story tells about acquiring one of the biggest wealth in history.

4. Sergey Mamontov - the most cunning one. This charater from "The pyramid"🛕 isn't fictional as well. Sergey Mavrodi (the prototype) tried to perform the biggest financial scam in new history of Russia fooling more than 15 million people.

This time an Easter Egg from a criminal saga 'Law of the lawless'

The phrase "Люди гибнут за металл" [People die for metal]🪙 refers to a part of Charles Gounod's opera Faust (orginal libretto in French) that in turn is loosely based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust, Part One.

It represents the idea of people's greed so big that sometimes only death can stop the thirst for gold 💰
Oh, and yes, it is Mephistopheles' (Devil's) line, naturally 😈

That is why this line is absolutely suitable for a criminal saga, and gives it a unique charm 🤩
