🎉 Let’s explore possessive adjectives with the -ин suffix: мамин, папин, Сашин! 🎉

Hello, friends! Today at Zlatoust Russian Language School, we’re looking at a very warm and personal part of Russian grammar — possessive adjectives with the -ин suffix! 🤗

What are they? Possessive adjectives answer the question “чей?” (“whose?”) and show who something belongs to. The -ин suffix helps us express that! 😍

👉 Examples:

мамин платок — mum’s scarf (a scarf that belongs to mum);

папин журнал — dad’s magazine (dad’s magazine);

Сашин велосипед — Sasha’s bicycle (Sasha’s bike).

💡 Important note! If the adjective is formed from a proper name (like Сашин), it starts with a capital letter. If it’s from a common noun (like мамин or бабушкин), it starts with a lowercase letter.

These words also make your speech sound more natural and heartfelt. When you say мамина улыбка (“mum’s smile”) or дедушкин рассказ (“grandad’s story”), it immediately feels cozy and close. ❤️

Почему в книгах для русских обычно не пишут букву «ё»? Есть несколько объяснений:
1. Люди просто привыкли НЕ писать «ё».
2. По правилам русской орфографии можно писать «ё» только, чтобы предупредить неправильное понимание слова. В остальных случаях это необязательно. 3. Когда мы печатаем на компьютере, неудобно нажимать «ё», она находится сбоку, часто её сложно найти.
