PROJECT AKU renovation of Smolny College's space design
03/12/2020
What are we going to do?
Our project consists of several steps:
🔺We will organize meetings with focus groups to understand what Smolny students, professors and workers want.
🔺We will analyze all the responses and will make a technical task for a designer.
🔺The designer will offer a renewal project.
🔺We will hold a project-seminar to discuss what Smolny students, professors and workers think about the design project.
🔺We will finalize and clarify the project.
🔺We will implement it!
Since the COVID-19 is happening now and it is our first large project, it is hard to predict the exact date. But we hope to implement this project by the end of 2021!

Why is this project needed?
🔺We want Smolny to be inclusive, so that the space meets the needs of people who study and work here.
We cannot predict your requests. Maybe someone is missing greenery, someone wants more places for privacy, and someone wants to get to the third floor by the elevator! But we are sure that our project will help to:
🔺Unite people together.
🔺Give them an opportunity to speak out and really change something.
🔺Make the space used! To fill it with people, activities and interactions
What is of most importance for us is to unleash the potential of Smolny through the changes of the environment. If this idea is close to you, follow our media and become involved!

Why did this project appear?
🔺We have noticed a problem.
There are many places at Smolny that remain unused. Somewhere in hallways there are some benches and desks. You can work only in several places that are usually occupied. The stands are empty at best. In the small yard a sad loose chair stands next to the trash; sometimes someone smokes there and eco club crumples plastic bottles.
🔺 We are sure that these places have a lot of potential!
Comfortable poufs can be in the hallways, students’ works can be exhibited on the walls. In the small yard there can be benches and tables, in the garden there may be a swing. More space for studying and informal meetings can appear.
And to make this happen we really need your participation and informational support. If you want Smolny to become better, follow our networks!
