Lisa works at Meta (Facebook) in London, studied at St. Petersburg State University at the philology department, and completed her master's degree in linguistics in Germany.
10 years in IT - Veeam Backup & Replication, then Wrike, then Facebook, recently renamed Meta.

Hey! Long time no see! 👋🏻

We are already in the middle of the first semester! So, it's time to summarize and tell you what happened in our specialization during this time.

Let's start with a story about the most interesting training course for second-year students "Creative Technologies and Methodologies", led by Eduard Haiman.

As part of the lecture part of the course, students considered the general features of unifying approaches to the creation and application of technologies, namely, computational and informational ones. We studied several areas such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, prototyping and production, biological and digital materials and their new understanding, augmented and virtual reality, including investigating the mutual influence of modern technologies and the economy.

The practical part included creating a prototype or a series of prototypes, fixing the process of their creation: tests and experiments; fixation of results and their analysis.

Eduard Haiman is a designer, architect, urban explorer and digital artist. Explores the possibilities of artificial intelligence for aesthetic and functional in architecture.
Co-founder of interactive art and digital design studio Mathrioshka. At Habidatum, he leads the direction of UI / UX design, visualization and analysis of urban data.
Curated the Master's program –Da. Digital Art at the Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok). Supervised courses at MARSH (Moscow) and Shukhov Lab at the Graduate School of Urban Studies (Moscow), taught and lectured at ITMO (St. Petersburg), MARHI (Moscow) and other universities.

Cross Cultural Business; practice or research driven

On October 8, the third open lecture of the "Management of Research and Development" course will be held.

Speaker: Ewout van der Schaft is Professor of Practice and Associate Dean at IBSS School of Business. Previously Ewout served as Deputy Dean and IMBA Director at IBSS, and as Head of Department of Industrial Design at XJTLU University.

From 2008-2013, Ewout served as Dean Executive Education at Aegis Mumbai (India) and as Assistant Dean at the CEU Business School in Hungary.
Before moving to Academics, Ewout accumulated for 20+ years of international experience from senior business roles worldwide. Ewout worked in executive positions for two leading European Telecommunication incumbents, Czech Telecom and Bulgarian Telecom. He led the transformation of Czech Telecom and the start-up of their B2B electronic marketplace. As Head of the PMO in Bulgarian Telecom, he prepared the company for their sell off. Ewout started his international career for Philip Morris in The Netherlands.

Research and Creative Professional Practice in Interactive, Non-Linear Documentary

Richard Cornelisse is a visual technologist and video artist who works with interactivity, non-linear narrative, and video portraiture.
His research and practice explore how non-linear poetry, early motion picture frameworks, surveillance systems, and deep learning can inform video making, public video display systems, and responsible public media exhibition.
Richard received degrees from the University of Texas in English Literature and Radio Television and Film, and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University with a focus on video and new media production.
Past efforts include awards from the Canada Council, Taiwan Public News Service (PTS), Taipei Artist Village (AIR), the Taiwan Fellowship, the Beijing National Academy of Performing Arts Fellowship, the De Seve Graduate Award in Film Production, and the Master of Fine Arts Entrance Scholarship at Concordia University. Publications include articles published at the Taiwan National Library and the IEEE Online Journal of Engineering, exhibitions in major art museums such as the Taiwan Museum of Modern Art (MOCA) and Musee D’Art Contemporain, conferences such as the 22nd International Conference on Virtual Systems and Multimedia in Malaysia, along with contributed video production work at NBC, PBS, Bravo, IFC, Lion’s Gate, Discovery Channel, Apple Computers, Thrasher magazine and 20th Century Fox. In addition, he is currently an assistant professor at Xi’An Jiaotong University and a researcher at National Chengchi University researching Chinese poetry and interactive video platforms.

Last week, second-year students started a course on Operations Management in Creative Industries. Tutor: Letunovskaya Ekaterina.

As part of the course objectives, lectures and workshops with students, as well as a significant proportion of independent mastering of information, are assumed.
Each topic will be presented in the form of a lecture with the experience of companies and links to materials from leading start-up courses from the international community of investors and entrepreneurs.

Ekaterina founded Habidatum with partner Alexey Novikov (PhD, Urban and Regional Studies) in 2014. Since then, he has been in charge of Habidatum's operations as well as business development, analytical products and investor relations.

Prior to Habidatum, she led the Urban Data Project at Thomson Reuters, which created one of the first prototypes of a platform for analyzing and visualizing new urban data. In 2013, she was responsible for data analysis and coordination of the working group within the framework of the “Data” study (“Archeology of the Periphery”, FFM 2013); co-author of the study.

In 2013-2015. wrote a blog and took part in the “City from Wit” program of the radio station “Echo of Moscow”. In November 2012 she launched the online community MOSGORCHAT.

Here with our continuing coverage about educational process.

Anastasia Varlygina and Nikita Litvinov (founders of the company "Prostoye Delo") joined us during their introductory course "Sustainable Business Solutions".

Course participants considered the topic of current global challenges and environmental problems, and how this affects people's lives. They discussed in simple terms, what planetary boundaries mean and what challenges humanity will face in the next hundred years. What technologies and solutions will help us cope with this situation will be figured out.
The concepts of sustainable development and the cyclic economy were explained. The business models of projects and initiatives in Russia and worldwide were analyzed.
They study concrete steps on the way to green life in the city based on our own experience, and share the tools for Zero Waste life in the city.

In addition to all of the above, the students figured out how companies respond to consumer demands, as well as be inspired by Russian and foreign sustainability projects.
develop and generate ideas for their own sustainability projects or understand how to better integrate sustainability into their current projects.
