PROFESSORS FROM OREL STATE UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER I.S.TURGENEV TOOK PART IN THE SCIENTIFIC FORUM OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF EDUCATION
On February 2, on the platform of the Russian Academy of Education, the All-Russian Scientific Forum “Scientific Certification: Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow”, which was organized by the Russian Professors Assembly, the Russian Academy of Education and the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The Forum was attended by heads and specialists of all federal and a number of regional bodies and organizations responsible for attestation of scientific personnel - the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation under the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Russian Academy of Education, public associations of universities, the Russian Professors Assembly, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Federation Council, State Duma, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Ministry of Education of Russia, representatives of the scientific and pedagogical community.
The discussion touched upon a wide range of problems and solutions related not only to this attestation, but also to the training of scientific personnel in the country today, including the conduct of dissertation scientific research by graduate students, doctoral students and applicants for the scientific degrees of candidate and doctor of science .
Orel State University named after I.S. Turgenev was represented by the head of Theory and History of State and Law Department Dmitry Aronov, who stood at the origins of the creation of the Russian Professors Assembly, and the director of the International Relations Department Svetlana Aronova.
Svetlana Anatolyevna spoke at the Forum with a report on the topic "International regulation of the recognition of academic degrees and titles."
"This problem, unfortunately, is underestimated when making decisions related to the performance of universities and research and development programs. Many people confuse the concept of the quality of training of scientific personnel and the recognition policy associated with admission to jobs. There is currently no unification of degrees and titles in the world, although repeated attempts have been made to resolve this problem, in fact, additional solutions and tools are required. This concerns not only the recognition of degrees and titles received in the Russian Federation abroad, but also the recognition of degrees and titles obtained abroad in the Russian Federation. As a rule, scientific and teaching activity in many countries is quite prestigious. Therefore, entry into this closed environment is very difficult for many people from other countries. International agreements between countries on recognition issues are quite effective. Our country has signed quite a few such agreements, but many of them concern only a certain type of scientific qualification documents. For those who do not have such diplomas, there may be very significant restrictions in finding employment or continuing education," said Svetlana Aronova.

DOORS OPEN DAY AT THE ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTION INSTITUTE OF OREL STATE UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER I.S. TURGENEV
On January 16th the Doors Open Day was held at the Architectural and Construction Institute of OSU named after I.S. Turgenev, which allowed the applicants to make the final decision about their future education.
An exhibition of the Institute students projects was held and a seminar on "How not to make the wrong choice in your profession" was organized by the Director of the Institute Elena Finadeeva. The applicants also visited the Institute's workshops and laboratories, where the work of future engineers, architects, builders and city planners is in full swing every day.
During the introduction to the fields of study of the Architecture and Construction Institute the heads of the Departments and the heads of the educational programmes spoke in detail about the specialities, admission requirements and required entrance tests. Tatiana Kolesnikova introduced the Architectural Department, Lyudmila Volkova the Department of Urban Environment Design, Denis Matyushin answered questions about the Department of Building Structures and Materials, and Olga Pchelenok about the Industrial Safety.Department.
Institute director Elena Finadeeva answered all questions of applicants and their parents:
"Architecture and urban planning are not so much creative specialties, as technical. Many applicants are not interested in the salaries of their future professions when applying. I regularly analyze job search sites and look at the vacancies that are posted in our fields all over Russia. At the moment there is a tendency that Moscow salaries are starting to reach the regional ones.
At our institute there are students from almost every region of Russia, because we are one of the top universities that train architects in Russia. You can study here without losing the quality of education compared to the capital area.
In order to become a student of oue Institute you need to pass the following entrance exams: Specialized Mathematics, Russian language and Physics or Informatics, as well as creative entrance test Drawing.
This year there are a large number of state funded places: 43 for builders, 25 for architects, 15 for urban planners, and 20 for techno sphere safety.
The peculiarity of our training: urban planning and architecture - these are the areas of training, which are implemented only full-time or less often on a part-time basis throughout Russia. Another innovation: since September 1, 2021 it is impossible to enter the correspondence course "Construction" without higher education.

In accordance with the alterations made to the federal law "On the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation", foreign citizens entering the Russian Federation after December 29, 2021 are subject to mandatory state fingerprint registration, photographing, and medical examination and must have the relevant documents to stay lawfully in the Russian Federation.

Within 90 days since arrival you must go through the process of fingerprint registration, photographing, and medical examination.

On December 28, students of OSU Law Institute, studying the profile: "International and comparative law" held an event dedicated to the celebration of the New Year. The meeting was attended by international and Russian students of the 1-2 years of study. Foreign students prepared their national dishes, and then told about how they celebrate the New Year. Russian students also prepared their traditional food, which are presented on every festive table on New Year's Eve. Besides the students told about New Year traditions of their countries to each other. The Head of the Theory and History of State and Law Department Dmitry Aronov congratulated everybody with the upcoming holidays and accompanied his congratulation in a foreign language, so that the foreign students could feel the atmosphere of Russian New Year. After a festive dinner the students gladly arranged a photo-session with the New Year's attributes and just had a heart-to-heart talk. The meeting was a New Year's cheer for all the participants!

OSU NAMED AFTER I.S. TURGENEV ENTERED THE TOP 20 RUSSIAN UNIVERSITIES ACCORDING TO GREEN METRIC 2021 RANKING

OSU named after I.S. Turgenev, according to the results of the international ranking of environmental sustainability of universities UI GreenMetric 2021 took the 395th position in the world and 14th in Russia. The list of the “greenest” universities was published on December 14. There are 956 universities from 80 countries, including 54 universities from Russia. The goal of the UI GreenMetric — assess universities according to campus development ecological sustainability and the energy-saving model of university management.
UI GreenMetric is the first and most influential international ranking that annually evaluates and publishes the results of the "sustainable development" of modern universities. Nowadays, more and more often at the highest levels there is a talk about replacing hydrocarbon fuels with new types of energy, about “green construction”, about reducing the “carbon footprint”, about preserving the ecosystem for future generations. Such a narrative clearly indicates that the world is on the verge of global changes, and universities are assigned the role of “scientific locomotives” that determine the vector of further development.
Commitment to the policy of "sustainable development" requires the university to combine educational, scientific, personnel, social, economic and other activities. This year, work in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic was added to this issue. Despite the fact that our University is traditionally included in the top 20 Russian universities in this Ranking, there is a lot of work ahead. Very soon, the University will start building a modern campus that meets all the requirements of "green building", setting a new trend in the construction of social facilities in the region. The implementation of such a large-scale project will significantly strengthen our position in the ranking and make a significant contribution to the preservation of the environment.

STUDENTS OF OSU LAW INSTITUTE VISITED THE CAPITAL OF RUSSIA
On December 16, students of OSU Law Institute took an excursion to New Year Moscow.
Acquaintance with the capital began with a visit to the VDNKh exhibition complex and the largest skating rink in Europe, which is 1.6 km long. After skating and seeing the beauty of VDNKh, the students went to one of the most famous and largest parks in Moscow - the Gorky Park. Then the excursion continued in the direction of the Lenin Library. The way passed through the cultural center of the capital. The students managed to see the Muzeon Park, the Tretyakov Gallery, and also get acquainted with the work of contemporary artists presented on the paintings market in front of the famous gallery. The path of young travelers continued past the majestic monument to Peter I, along the embankment. Having reached the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, students, in particular foreign students, did not hold back their enthusiastic exclamations. Some of them wanted to visit the temple.
“An incredible piece of architecture, inside it is even more majestic. Entering it, you get the feeling that you are transported to the 18th century, to the king's palace. The walls are painted by skilled craftsmen, and bring strict and serious moods into the energy of the temple ”- shared her impressions of visiting one of the largest temples Albina Agaeva, associate professor of the Law Institute.
Having reached the Lenin Library, the students walked along Novy (New) and Staryy (Old) Arbat Street, and then went to Red Square. On Novy Arbat, tourists visited the most eminent bookstore, the Moscow House of Books. Foreign students were delighted to have the opportunity to buy books in their native language. Then the guys visited Staryy Arbat, where the wall of Viktor Tsoi, the famous Russian rock singer caused a huge amount of emotions.
The final point of the excursion was the Moscow Kremlin. Alexandrovsky Garden, Okhotny Ryad, GUM and Red Square itself won the hearts of students. They dined in the Soviet atmosphere of the Gum cafe "Canteen 57", bought some souvenirs, tasted the famous Eskimo (choco-ice cream) from GUM, listened to the Kremlin chime of bells and went back to Orel in New Year's mood, preparing for the session exams.

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A SCIENTIFIC INTERNSHIP AT THE QUEEN SQUARE INSTITUTE OF NEUROLOGY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON
From November 20 till December 15, 2021 a junior research assistant of the Orel State University Cell Physiology and Pathology Laboratory a 4th year postgraduate student of the Photonics, instrumentation, optical and biotechnical systems and technologies specialty Ekaterina Bryanskaya was a research intern at the Institute of Neurology, University College London (UCL), under the guidance of the leading researcher Professor Andrey Abramov, as well as researcher Dr Plamena Stroh. The internship was organized within the framework of the megagrant project "Mitochondria as targets in the mechanism of neurodegenerative diseases".
As part of the internship, research was carried out and new methods were mastered to assess the possibility of using green spectrum fluorescence in assessing the physiological state of cells.
Also, in order to discuss cooperation, Ekaterina visited the UCL Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering, where she met with researcher Daniil Nikitichev.
The experience gained will make it possible to continue the implementation of this project, as well as to develop a new direction of scientific research on the basis of the Orel State University Cell Physiology and Pathology Laboratory.

CAREER GUIDANCE FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS AT OSU LAW INSTITUTE
On December 10 at Orel State University Institute of Law an event on career guidance of foreign students from the University Preparatory department took place.
OSU Law Institute is recruiting students in the field of "International and Comparative Law". The meeting was attended by students from different countries: Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, France, Egypt and Morocco.
The event began with a tour of the Institute building. The first place the students of the Preparatory department got to was the auditorium "Courtroom". At the moment of the excursion the lecture was taking place there, however the docent of Department of National Security Alexander Kononov was glad to receive students and told a little about the lecture hall and training at the Law Institute.
"This is the format of our classes. We study both the theory and try to show the practical side of the profession" - said Alexander Kononov.
Then there was an excursion to the Department "Theory and history of the state and law". The head of the department Dmitriy Aronov collected a lot of historical material, presented by different exhibits, starting from flags to police caps of different times.
After the "historical heart" of the Institute the students were invited to the Forensic laboratory, with the work of which they were introduced by Olga Shabalina, head of the laboratory. Students of the Preparatory department learned a lot about such direction of jurisprudence as criminalistics.
The meeting ended with a presentation of academic activities and extracurricular life of the Law Institute foreign students. Sophomore students from different countries told the students of the Preparatory department about their studies at the OSU named after I.S. Turgenev. Thanks to the translators, students were able to hear all the information in their native language.
