❗️Results of the first admission campaign❗️

The first academic group consists of 12 students. Ten of them are from Russia 🇷🇺 and two are international students from Chile 🇨🇱 and Nigeria 🇳🇬. We already introduced them to you in our previous post. ⬇️

🎉Congratulations to the applicants who are now officially students of our programme, and also to those who were not lucky enough to win the competition. We invite you to take part in the admission campaign next year!

We remind you that classes on the Master's programme will begin on September 2. 🤓

The application for the first student enrollement has just ended! 🎓

On July 29 students met with the Master's Programme Academic Supervisor - prof. Ivan Remizov - and the Scientific Supervisor of the Department of Fundamental Mathematics - Vyacheslav Grines - for the first time.

Peter Salomon from Nigeria 🇳🇬 and Fernanda Florida-Calvo from Chile 🇨🇱 are the first international students to study at our Master's Programme.

Students already have a chance to start working individually even before the official start of classes. We also wish to remind you that the library in HSE-NN is open during summer, but, please, check the schedule on the web page. The classes are to start from September 2 and will take place in evenings.

👏The Master's Programme is one step closer to welcome its first students!

The Head of the Master's Programme "Mathematics" and the Head of the Department of Fundamental Mathematics visited their colleagues from the University of Passau. During the visit they negotiated detailes of educational aspects and discussed approaches to the studying process in the two different countries.🧐

We remind you that the Double-degree Master’s Programme "Mathematics" in Nizhny Novgorod will open its doors to first applicants this year and future students will have a unique opportunity to gain two diplomas after graduation:
- in Mathematics (M.Sc. Mathematics) 🇷🇺
- and in Computational Mathematics (M.Sc. Computational Mathematics) 🇩🇪

Ivan Remizov, the Head of our Master's programme, an Associate Professor of the Department of Fundamental Mathematics, the Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of of Topological Methods in Dynamics, gave a plenary presentation on "Approximation subspaces in the Chernoff theorem” on 28th of January, 2019. It was part of the international science conference "Infinite-dimensional analysis and mathematical physics” that took place in Moscow, in the Lomonosov MSU, and was given on its first day. 👏

🥳Conference with a holiday atmosphere🥳

During these New Year holidays the first conference on «Topological methods in dynamics and related topics» took place in the Higher School of Economics from January 3 to 6. It was organized by the Department of Fundamental Mathematics of the Faculty of Informatics, Mathematics, and Computer Science.

Conference was dedicated to four fields: "Topological methods in dynamics", "Bifurcations and chaos", "geometry and topology of foliations", "Algebra and analysis». An eventful programme consisted of series of lectures, plenary and breakout sessions and even included poster sessions, where Four-year students from the Bachelor’s programme “Mathematics” had an opportunity to present the results of their first research. 🤓🤩

😎 Spokespeople at the conference included mathematicians from universities of France, Germany, Spain, Poland, the USA, Japan, China, Korea, Iran, Finland, Syria and others. They all noted a very high level of organization of the event.

✅- Thanks to the organizers of the conference. The conference was held at the highest level. I enjoyed the stay in Nizhny Novgorod, scientific communication and cultural program. Keep it up Nizhny!

Master’s Programme in Mathematics Signs Double Degree Agreement with University of Passau 🇩🇪️

On November 5, educational partnership between the Master’s programme in Mathematicsoffered by HSE Nizhny Novgorod and the University of Passau, Germany, was finalized.
📍Upon graduation from the joint programme, students will receive a Master’s degree in Mathematics from HSE and a Master of Science in Computational Mathematics degree from the German university.
