Our brand new EMBA student and a special scholarship recepient Altynbek Bukharbayev shares his experience applying to IE. Super useful for those who are also considering the big step 😀

Applying for an MBA or EMBA is certainly a big step in your life. While spending all your free time on choosing the best university, you can have no more motivation left to finally apply to the selected program. With IE Business School this process is actually not that complicated and really straightforward. Below I've tried to summarize my application process in 10 steps. Hopefully, this will help you all and save your time in the future.

1. Find a contact person to communicate with IE Business School. In my case I really appreciate Olga Mischenko who helped me in guiding through all the application process.

2. Apply online - you need to fill in your personal details, work experience, personal statement, pay an application fee. Huge advantage - there is no need to ask your referee to personally contact the university, just upload reference letters that you have. Most of the universities ask a personal contact from a referee, in IE this process is helpful in saving your time.

3. Pass the ieGat test (alternative for GMAT and GRE, free of charge)- this is an exclusive IE Global Admissions Test that determines applicant's ability to make decisions in different situations and problems. Contact me if you need more detailed information on what this test is about.

4. Video questionnaire (Relatively easy and straightforward) – personally, I liked the experience.

5. Interview – 1-hour structured interview with Admissions committee head.

6. Receive letter of admission – it took around 2 weeks to receive feedback.

7. Apply for EECA Scholarship - this could become a great opportunity for you in terms of financing your education. I really advise you to pay more attention on this step as a scholarship will enhance your motivation and dedication to get this degree.

8. Write an essay – no big deal, at least it was easy for me as I was super motivated.

9. One more interview, final one, just be yourself and prove why you are the best candidate for the scholarship

10. Wait for the result - the easiest step 😁 and it took me about a week or two to hear the best news of this year.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions on this application process to the IE Business School. I will try my best to guide you. Just remember that taking this big step [especially when you are 30 something and you have finally settled down], is beyond all doubt a rewarding process.
