🍎 What makes a good teacher?

A good teacher is not only someone who knows their subject inside out.
Google knows everything too 😉

A good teacher knows how to spark curiosity. They can turn mathematics into a puzzle you «want» to solve, and history into a living story where events unfold before your eyes.

Think of Mr Keating from «Dead Poets Society»: his lessons didn’t fit into a textbook, yet they changed entire lives.

Or Professor Dumbledore from «Harry Potter»? His strength lay not only in magic, but also in his ability to believe in every student.

The most unforgettable teachers are those who combine knowledge with genuine support. They notice not only marks, but also character, talents and doubts. They help students believe in themselves and see more than they ever expected.

💡 A good teacher is a bridge between the textbook and real life.

At the British International School we see every day how children come to lessons with joy, and how, in between classes, they share new discoveries with one another. That is why Teacher’s Day is more than just a date in the calendar for us — it is a chance to say «thank you» to those who open up a whole world for our students 💙️

💰Why does a good education cost so much?

At a nuclear power plant in America, a warning light for the reactor came on. Nobody could fix it. A specialist was called in: he inspected the system and discovered that the bulb had simply burnt out. He replaced it for $10 and sent an invoice for… $10,000.

The management were astonished and asked for clarification. The revised invoice read:

- Replacing the bulb — $50
- Twenty years of study in nuclear energy and reactor analysis — $9,550

We are not only paid for the job itself, but for the knowledge behind it. The same applies to what your children are learning.

A good education is expensive not because of luxuries, impressive buildings or status. Behind every lesson in a private school are years of accumulated experience from teachers who know how to see each child’s strengths, guide them with care and turn knowledge into the ability to solve real-world problems. It means modern teaching methods, well-equipped laboratories, studios, workshops and projects where pupils can try out different fields, learn to analyse, create and make decisions. It is an environment that values curiosity and attention to detail, where every step is noticed and supported.

In essence, you are not paying for lessons — you are investing in your child’s preparation for life, where the skills, habits and ways of thinking they develop now will define their success tomorrow.

💡It is, in fact, the better investment: not paying for the light itself, but for your child’s ability to light the way on their own.

🌍 The British International School at the European Day of Languages

On Saturday, 20 September, our school took part in the «European Day of Languages» in Moscow.

📍 The event was held at the Lycée français de Moscou – Alexandre Dumas and brought together leading cultural centres from across Europe.

We delivered open lessons and lectures in English and were once again reminded that mastering foreign languages opens not only the doors to world-class universities, but also the path to global thinking.

💡 The European Day of Languages is a yearly reminder that while the world keeps changing, language learning remains one of the key tools for success and communication without borders.

🏫 Ørestad — the school without walls that transformed our idea of learning

In Denmark, there is a school known across the world. Ørestad College is called «the school without walls» — and that is no metaphor. The building looks like something from the future: transparent walls, vast atriums, open staircases and no traditional division into classrooms and corridors.

Here, architecture itself has become part of the educational philosophy.

Open spaces leave no room to hide at the back of the class — they nurture courage and responsibility. Glass walls encourage honesty and trust. Staircases and social areas become places where ideas, projects, lively games and genuine friendships are born.

This is more than just a creative architectural choice. The very space reshapes the way people think.

At Ørestad, teachers cannot simply *read from a sheet* or raise their voices at pupils — everyone would hear at once. And there are no paper textbooks: only a digital knowledge base, constantly updated and enriched.

Pupils work on projects, produce podcasts and websites, and set off into the city by bike to explore real life. That is why Ørestad has been named among the most innovative schools in the world and has become a model for the future of education: open, personalised, and closely connected to life.

💬 And what about you? Would you like your children to study in such a school — or is this perhaps a little too much freedom?

🇬🇧 «Windsor approved»:

Stay curious. Stay royal 💙️

😌Do you remember how we... (*insert your most vivid memory from the past academic year*)?

There is very little time left until 1 September! In anticipation of a busy school life, which will sweep us away from the very first days of September, let’s brighten up the wait with pleasant memories of the most vivid events of the past trimesters. Join us!

🌏We want to remember the wonderful trip to the Urals that the students of School 3 took at the end of the last term. The students discovered the amazing city of Perm on the banks of the K**a River.

They walked along historic streets and learned about the great names associated with this region — Popov, Diaghilev, Tchaikovsky, Pasternak, Prokofiev. They watched the life of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre from behind the scenes and even managed to visit the only robot factory in Russia! We also immersed ourselves in Ural crafts, visited thermal springs, and even took home souvenirs we made ourselves.

Such trips make our school life bright, rich and memorable. They bring students, teachers and parents together. All these are the very moments in life that leave a warm mark on the heart for a lifetime.

Dear ! We look forward to embarking on new adventures together in the new term and the new academic year!

Please like this post if you miss us too. We look forward to seeing you soon! 💙️
