The chair was founded in 1776 by Professor S. G. Zybelin. At that time the department began regularly giving lectures on human physiology at the Medical Faculty of the University. From 1891 to 1901, the Department was headed by I.M. Sechenov himself😉

meetings of the сlub, participate in research activities and contests of students' scientific works, winning prize places;

The students taking active part in the work of the Scientific Club can be recommended for further study in Residency at the Department of Hospital Therapy №1 in the specialty «Internal Medicine», «Cardiology», «hematology». Many of them continue their PhD studies in the future.

Today, September 17, is the birthday of Sergey Petrovich Botkin. He was born in 1832.

Botkin was an outstanding therapist, physiologist and public figure.

Born in a merchant family, from his childhood he had access to the best teachers and education. His family home was an important point on the map of Moscow, a huge number of cultural events took place there. This had a beneficial effect on the thinking of the future physician.

In 1850, he entered the medical faculty of Moscow University.

During his study, he became acquainted with I. M. Sechenov, with whom he was subsequently connected by years of strong friendship.

After graduation, as a doctor, he went to the Crimean War.

For several years Botkin trained in Germany, Austria, England and France, adopting the experience of foreign colleagues to apply it in the domestic medicine.

In 1960 Botkin defended his doctoral dissertation «On absorption of fat in the intestines» and at age 29 received the title of professor!

Botkin has a large number of outstanding discoveries in the field of medicine.

✅ He was the first to suggest the specificity of protein structure in different organs.

✅ In 1883 he pointed out that catarrhal jaundice was an infectious disease; nowadays this disease is called Botkin's disease.

✅He initiated the creation of an epidemiological society, which fought plague, cholera, typhus, smallpox, scarlet fever, etc.

✅He pioneered women's medical education. He organized «Women's Medical Courses».

Sergei Petrovich Botkin is buried at Novodevichy Cemetery, and his name is now carried by one of the largest hospitals in our country, the Botkin Hospital.

State scholarships for foreign students!

Every year the Russian government allocates a guaranteed number of budgetary places (state scholarships) for the education of foreigners at higher educational institutions of the country. In 2021, 18,000 places were allocated.

The state scholarship includes:

🔹 free tuition for the entire term in the chosen field of study;
🔹 a monthly stipend for the duration of study, regardless of the candidate's success;
🔹provision of a dormitory, if the university has space.

State scholarship does not include:

🔹travel expenses to the university;
🔹living expenses;
🔹VHI policy.

We trained volunteers for the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, Confederations Cup 2017 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. In 2020, the center became one of the points of the volunteer corps of the All-Russian #МыВместе campaign, and 453 volunteers went to the forefront in the fight against COVID-19.

Every day our volunteers help medical staff in hospitals, provide humanitarian aid to the community, and do educational activities.
