«Ambitious, nutritious, delicious, delirious. Or vicious, just tell us!...Freestyler... rock the microphone», зачитывал певец в культовом треке 1999 года. А вот часть сопроводительного текста бюро Space Popular к выставке Freestyle 2020 года: «Скорость, доступность и обширность интернета повергли нас в головокружительное свободное падение», — пишут архитекторы. — Наши нейроны пируют и задыхаются от передозировки распознавания образов».

Если в первом случае автор текста устал от мелодичности поп-музыки, то во втором — усталость от реальности коммерциализированных пространств и архитектурных конвенций прошлого. Space Popular используют виртуальную реальность для изучения границ возможного: качественного и количественного, материального и нематериального.

«Ambitious, nutritious, delicious, delirious. Or vicious, just tell us!...Freestyler... rock the microphone», rapped Bomfunk MC on the 1999 cult track Freestyler. Here is a part of the text accompanying the Freestyle exhibition curated by Space Popular in 2020. «The speed, accessibility and vastness of the internet have thrown us into a dizzying freefall. Our neurons feast and choke on an overdose of pattern recognition».

If in the first case, the author of the text is tired of the cheese melodies of pop music, then in the second — tired of the reality of commercialised spaces and architectural conventions of the past. Space Popular uses virtual reality to explore the boundaries of the possible: qualitative and quantitative, tangible and intangible. What will the translation of this new experience into education look like?

Пандемия радикально изменила образовательный процесс: потребовались новые подходы к командной работе, коммуникации в виртуальном мире. А вот бюро KOSMOS Architects работает в таком режиме с самого начала. Бюро работает в разных глобальных городах: Цюрих, Москва, Грац и Нью-Йорк, и остается эффективным: участвует в конкурсах, реализует проекты, преподает. Такой опыт сочетания глобального и локального позволяет посмотреть на многие вопросы с другой точки зрения. В интервью журналу Qui ne dit mot consent они отметили:

«Атмосфера в нашем бюро — это, на самом деле, возможность услышать мнение друг друга, и так же, как мы это делали между нами вначале, мы стараемся сохранить и с нашими удаленными сотрудниками. Мы считаем, что ограничения национальных культур слишком сильно преувеличены: физические границы скорее виртуальны и изобретены в наши дни».

The pandemic radically changed the educational process: new approaches to teamwork, communication in the virtual world were required. But the KOSMOS Architects bureau has been working in this mode from the very beginning. The bureau operates in various global cities: Zurich, Moscow, Graz and New York, and remains effective: it participates in competitions, implements projects, teaches. This experience of combining the global and the local allows us to look at many issues from a different perspective. In an interview with Qui ne dit mot consent magazine, they noted

«Our common atmosphere is actually a possibility to hear each other's opinion, and the same as we did it between us in the beginning, we try to keep it with our distant collaborators. We believe that the limitations of ‘national’ cultures are quite overrated: the physical boundaries are rather virtual and invented nowadays».

Исследуя историческую связь между скукой и творчеством в эпоху быстротечной современности Кристоф Линднер фокусируется на влиянии культуры скорости на творчество. Скука, которая когда-то была эстетической позицией, стала сегодня «непроизвольной реакцией на изнуряющую гиперактивность и перепроизводство, характерные для современной жизни».

Длительное переживание скуки в момент карантина заставило автора переосмыслить свой подход, отреагировать на реалии пандемии. Если прежде мы говорили о медлительности, пустоте, прерывистости в глобальной городской среде, то в нынешних условиях скука становится формой критики, позволяющей противостоять давлению неолиберального города, с его медлительностью и непреодолимым неравенством.

Exploring the historical relation between boredom and creativity in the era of accelerated living Сhristoph Lindner highlights the impact of culture of speed on creative practice. Boredom has come to us from an aesthetic pose «to become more of an involuntary response to the exhausting hyperactivity and excessive production characterising contemporary life».

A long experience of lockdown forced the author to rethink his research topic in a very real way due to pandemic. When previously we talked about slowness, emptiness, discontinuity in a globalized urban environment, in the current conditions, boredom as a form of critique to push back against atomizing forces of the neoliberal city that is slow and unequal.
