Another slang words in Russian!

Hi there, or,

Здарова!

In this post, we are going to continue from the previous one, about Russian slang words!

But before, did you apply the slang words on the previous post, in your daily conversation?

If yes, then how does it feel? Do you feel like "Местные?"

Nevertheless, let's get down to the business!

1. Здарова!

(read: Zdarova) (meaning: Hi!)

This phrase has the same meaning like Привет, but it only applies when you really know somebody very-very well. It's like, you already became friend with your dude for a quite long time and there's nothing to hide anymore between you two.

But, do not try to use this phrase with somebody older, or somebody that you've just known for a seconds ago. Or else, they would have kicked your a*s. >:)

How does this phrase work? Let's take a look!

A: Здарова, братан, чё как дела? (zdarova, bratan, cho kak dela?)

В: здарова, лучше всех. Ты как? (zdarova, luchshe vsekh. Ti kak?)

А: Да у меня тоже, давай пойдем в мак. (Da u menya tozhe, davai paidem v mak)

meaning:

A: Hi/what's up, dude, how's it going?

B: Hi/whats up, better than ever. What about you?

A: Me too, let's go to Mac. (literally means McDonald )

How was it? We hope you understand what that word literally means! ;)

2. Да не особо

(read: Da nye osoba) (meaning: well, not really)

This phrase is actually means "well, not really" or "doesn't impress me that much".

How to use this phrase?

A: Слушай, ты реально часто прогуливаешь пары?

(Slushai, ti realno chasto progulivaesh pary?)

В: Да не особо часто, наоборот я очень любою ходить на пары.

(da nye osoba chasto, naoborot ya ochen lubly khodit na pary)

А: Да кого ты обманываешь!

(da kogo ti obmanivaesh!)

meaning:

A: Hey listen, do you skip classes for real?

B: Well, not really that often. In contrast, I really love attending the classes.

A: Are you kidding me?

Ready to use this phrase? Make sure you'll say them confidently!

4 tips for a foreign student in Russia to keep engaged and focused
Updated: Mar 8

1. Know your purposes

Take a few seconds to remind yourself.

Did you come to Russia just for having fun?

Or did you forget, about the excitement you had back then at home, when you are successfully accepted in Russian University?

Do you make changes? Do you make progress? Please think about it.

Make sure you always make your family and friends proud for having you.

2. Do not let little things distract you

As you live far away from home, there won't be anybody who always monitor your movements. There will be such time where you should develop yourself by separating what's good and bad. You are yourself now, please be wise in taking action.

3. Listen, practice, and apply

- People will be amazed by how you can be a good listener for them.

- Practice every knowledge and skills that you have, stay focus and don't waste time.

- Once you know how things work, do not think twice, just apply and do it.

4. Survive

Survive, yes, literally survive in any conditions. You're now the judge of your future life, are you be able to survive in hard times? or are you even be able to survive in good times?

You'll be surprised that life is worth risk taking.

If you have any more personal experience or your tips to share, please put on the comments or make sure to contact us!

- GOOD LUCK -
