Kursk Mighty Lions have done it again!!! 🦁
Emerging as the victorious champions of the Sri Lankan Trophy held on the 5th of July, at the Moscow No.46 School ground after a tense tournament of several cricket matches, students from Kursk State University took home the glorious win.✌️
They defeated the Sunrise team in the semi finals and Spartak Lions in the Final match.
Nimna Nideeksha from Kursk State University won the trophy for the Most Valuable Player, scoring 147 runs and taking 4 wickets in the tournament. He even scored 6 sixes in one over against the team Shine in the Group stage.🏟️
Lahiru Pramod won the award for the Best Batsman scoring a thumping 133 runs and also taking 3 wickets. Nishantha Udayasiri from the host team RUDN Royals, took 4 wickets back to back and won the award for the Best Bowler of the tournament. 🥎
Captain Thathsara Nugawela followed by the talented players Lahiru Pramod, Nimna Nideeksha, Laksh*tha Rajakaruna, Dineth Darshana, Amhar Fais, Raveesha Ranasinghe, Kavindu Madushan and Lithum played for the winning champions. 🥇
RUDN Royals, the hosts of the tournament were unable to secure a spot in the finals, though they gave a great comeback after the first loss in the group stage, their net run rate just missed the bar to be selected for the semi finals.
The RUDN team comprised of our very own skilled players captained by Nishan Samaraweera followed by Ravichandran Krishan, Supun Dilshan, Kavin Charles, Chanuka Lakshan, Nishantha Udayasiri and Wageesha Umayanga.
