The Modern Nanotechnology
The aim of the course is a basic acquaintance with the concepts and approaches used in the field of nanomaterials design, fabrication, and analysis. The course examines the physical basis of modern nanotechnology from the standpoint of semiconductor physics and quantum mechanics. The range of issues covered includes nanosystems classification by dimension, consideration of "bottom-up" and "from top-down" approaches, examples of nanomaterials and nanosystems properties changes, the basis of practical device fabrication technologies for electronics, microwave photonics, and photovoltaics, as well as the most important techniques for nanomaterial and device characterization.

What are the nuclear security considerations that the extensive use of advanced digital systems and information-technology features bring with them? How do nuclear security regulations address risks such as cyber-attacks?

Computer-based systems and advanced technologies are increasingly used to support a wide range of operations in nuclear power plants, research reactors, radiological waste facilities, and in many other applications of peaceful uses of nuclear technology.

Dmitry Zakharov, a 2nd-year master's student at Institute of Cyber Intelligence Systems (ICIS) of the MEPhI, won first place in the All-Russian open competition for the best scientific work in the field of information security among students of specialized universities.
