The third edition of our workshop brought together over 60 participants and 4 speakers from important universities (Central European University, Budapest and University of Oxford) in three intensive days. The workshop on "Causality in the Social Sciences" has ended and we hope that it left everybody with a deeper concern on tackling causal relations.

The speakers presented their work and the research methods they used so to enhance the learning of methodologies for establishing causal relations. Their contribution was extremely relevant and we are very thankful for all their support in building this community of scholars and practitioners in Timisoara.

A big thank you to our speakers:
Ioana-Elena Oană, Central European University, Budapest
Levente Littvay, Central European University, Budapest
Carsten Q. Schneider Schneider, Central European University, Budapest
Elias Dinas, University of Oxford / European University Institute, Florence.

We thank also the participants for presentations - it was great to have you all here, in Timișoara!

See you next year!

Some of the conclusions of the Causality in the Social Sciences workshop at its final panel:

Carsten Schneider (CEU) wraps up with "better do good descriptions than bad causality". A second thought from Carsten is that "any causal explanation is better if it is preceded by a good descriptive analysis".

We hope that this third workshop of ours will strengthen your interest in other methods of doing research. And as the speakers were saying, "there's a revival of data visualization that helps us do better social science".

Let's engage for better research outcome!

The agenda had its logic for this event as the subject of causality unfolded with each contribution of our speakers.

This is our last day of the intensive workshop that combined theory and concrete examples of applied methodology.

Carsten Schneider (CEU, Budapest), Elias Dinias (University of Oxford), Levente Littvay (CEU, Budapest)
along with moderator Robert Reisz (West University of Timisoara) will sum up the event starting with 2 pm in room 701 (WUT, 7th floor).

Carsten Schneider (Central European University, Budapest) addressed the pros and cons of various approaches to detecting causality when using set-analytic methods in his keynote speech.

The day was fruitful in discussions as we also had panels with young researches presenting their work.

See you tomorrow!

We started our second day of the workshop with a dynamic "Introduction to Experimental and Quasi-experimental Designs for Testing Causality" delivered by Levente Littvay from Central European University (Budapest).

Extremely useful in the context of learning new methods of doing research.
And as one of our great participants mentioned yesterday, here it goes also the .
