The International Biennial of Miniature Arts Timisoara 2014 was born from the enthusiastic vision of a few teachers of the Faculty of Arts and Design. It is part of a wider range of projects such as Drawing Biennial or Poster and Book Grahics Biennial, Interfoto or Interdesign. Now at the first edition we are honored by the participation of artists from Germany, Poland, Turkey, Iceland, Chile, Australia, Switzerland, and not least of all Romania, thus having the opportunity to discover how united we are with the help of creation, with the help of art. Miniature arts were and still are the passport to mobility, giving, in this moment, to the artists from around the world the opportunity to be present here in Timisoara, Romania. Besides this mobility, the miniature represents the essence, the possibility of exploring; it represents the artist’s capacity of representing their own concepts on a small surface having all the potential of the monumental surfaces. The miniature form of art is not defined as a response, a replica to a greater shape, maybe as a project of a future large-scale work of art, but also as an autonomous form, which like a Haiku, incorporates qualities of clarity, transparency and suggestion. Small scale art exercises stimulates imaginative flow and especially taste for experiment. We can say that within the frame of miniature arts we find the experiences that marked art. Within it are investigated and mixedtogether countless mediums, different techniques, various searches of structures and constructions. As each technique is a source of inspiration, each miniature becomes a self-contained work of art in which the experiment collaborated with the imagination. It proves this way the necesity for each creator's own poetic, a poetic wider than the limits of a craft, a true poetic of a interdisciplinary creation.
