Invitație adresată comunității academice UMFST:
Studenții, cadrele didactice, cercetătorii și profesioniștii din domeniul sănătății sunt invitați să participe la Silk-Road Medical Forum 2026 – The Ethical Legacy of Hippocrates in the 21st Century, organizat în perioada 12–17 octombrie 2026, la Atena și Kos, în Grecia.
Evenimentul propune un dialog internațional despre dimensiunea umană și etică a medicinei contemporane, de la moștenirea hipocratică și medicina narativă până la provocările generate de inteligența artificială. Participarea este autofinanțată, iar termenul-limită pentru înscriere și trimiterea contribuțiilor este 15 septembrie 2026.

Call for Participation – UMPhST Academic Community
From Hippocrates to AI, medicine is once again facing crucial questions about what should remain at its core and what needs to be reclaimed from what was lost during technological advancement.
Therefore, between 12–17 October 2026, the Silk-Road Medical Forum 2026 – The Ethical Legacy of Hippocrates in the 21st Century will bring these concerns into discussions together with an international community of academics, clinicians, researchers and students.
Hot topics that currently shape, or will heavily influence, the future of medical practice will be brought forward, including:
* Hippocrates in the Age of AI (Roundtable)
* Student “Lightning Talks” (five 7-minute talks)
* History of medicine: Hippocratic Medicine, Bioethics, Botanology | From Hippocrates to 2026: the Hippocratic tradition and the human dimension of contemporary medical practice
* Narrative medicine: The Secret – From the Hippocratic Oath to Narrative Medicine
* Asklepios & Hippocrates: Holistic & Scientific Medicine
We, therefore, invite you to join us as we explore how to keep the patient as a whole person, rather than just a collection of parts, at the very centre of modern medicine.

* Solemn recital of the Hippocratic Oath at the Pnyx in Athens, overlooking the Ancient Agora, followed by cultural visits in Athens
* Hippocratic Oath Ceremony in Kos, reconnecting contemporary medicine with its Hippocratic roots
* Visit to Epidaurus and Nafplion, linking the programme with major historical sites of healing and ancient medicine
* “East Meets West” conversation and international academic exchange across different medical and cultural traditions
* Integration into the Annual Hippocratic Forum in Kos, with sessions on the history of medicine, bioethics, Hippocratic medicine and Narrative Medicine
* Ceremonial tree planting in Kos, symbolising allegiance to the Kos Hippocratic Document
Key information
Dates: 12–17 October 2026
Location: Athens and Kos, Greece
Who can participate? Medical students and scholars, researchers, medical doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, as well as health-policy officials and professionals from health-related international organisations.
Participation formats: Papers of up to 10 pages, student posters (70 × 160 cm), speeches, roundtable discussions, and moderation of paper presentations and discussions.
Submission and registration deadline: 15 September 2026
Participation fee: USD 2,500; USD 2,000 for students.
The fee covers accommodation, meals, domestic transportation and entrance fees within Greece during the Forum, as well as round-trip airfare between Athens and Kos. International flights are not included and must be covered by each participant. Participation is therefore self-financed.
