The main goal of the research project DiFiCIL is to create a sustainable team of experts that will analyze, design and implement complex cyber-physical social systems (CPSS) at an international level, and to successfully participate in European research projects such as Horizont 2020, INTERREG IVC etc. The second major objective of the project is the fundamental and applicable research in the fiel
d of emergent technologies on which the assimilation of Internet of the Future (IoF) depends for creating valuable international publications, and obtaining invention patents. Among the emergent technologies mentioned are: 1) service-oriented and agent-oriented architectures (integration with the current standards), 2) Web 2.0., Web 3.0 (matching mechanisms, collective annotation mechanisms), and 3) various human-machine interaction technologies (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, multi-modal interaction). The third main objective of DiFiCIL is the development of a technological infrastructure for the research in the field of cyber-physical social systems with prototypes and experimental systems within Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (LBUS). The infrastructure will allow validation, demonstration and presentation of the fundamental and experimental research concepts, for both academic and industrial environment. The forth objective is to identify the research themes that represent real interest to the regional industry within the first six months of the project. The focus will be on refining study cases that will be implemented through the newly build infrastructure, with interesting scenarios form the local industry. Additionally, another purpose is to identify niches that will allow our team to participate in common European research project, such as Factory of the Future in Horizon 2020.
