We cordially invite you to submit an article at the “Explainable AI in Education” Workshop to be held at the 22nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations (IFIP AIAI 2026, https://ifipaiai.org/2026) Hybrid @ Chania - Greece & Web, 16 – 19 July, 2026.

The Workshop “Explainable AI in Education” (https://ifipaiai.org/2026/workshops/xaiedu) focuses on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, emphasizing the importance of explainable AI (xAI) in teaching, learning and technology-based assessment activities. This workshop aims to analyze challenges and opportunities for xAI in education by bringing together students, educators, researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and discuss recent achievements and lessons learned by using AI in education, and the importance of xAI in teaching, learning and technology-based assessment activities, in the development of information and communication technology infrastructure for digital education ecosystems. The importance of xAI for Education 4.0 and Education 5.0 is also tackled.

TOPICS OF INTEREST of the “xAI in Education” Workshop include (but are not limited to):
Methods for xAI in education and teaching
Software tools developed for xAI in education
Experiences from using xAI software in education/ teaching, and technology-based assessments
Ethics and xAI in education
xAI and Education 4.0 and Education 5.0
