The fifth and final day of our Erasmus+ Mobility in Riga has come to an end. After receiving our certificates and completing the final evaluation, we continued to deepen our appreciation for the city’s rich history and culture with a guided tour of the House of the Black Heads and the charming Old Town. Our last stop was the vibrant Central Market — and, without a doubt, the hardest part of the day was saying goodbye to the amazing friends we've made in such a short time. Before parting ways with Riga, we enjoyed one final unforgettable experience, shared with our greek and italian friends: the Traviasta show, a spectacular cultural performance that left a lasting impression.

Today, on May 1st, 2025, Jaunmārupe School organized a cultural trip during which we visited Bauska Castle and Rundāle Palace, along with its beautiful gardens. The mysteries of this beautiful country were uncovered to us through this experience. We hopped on the coach, where the students from the host country played fun music and games. We all sang along and even danced. At the first castle, we had a lovely tour guide who gave us a deeper insight into the history of the place. At Rundāle Palace, we discovered the mesmerizing Baroque chambers by dividing into small groups and taking part in a learning activity, a treasure hunt. After our visit to the palace, we enjoyed a cultural culinary experience, tasting some traditional Latvian pastries.Following the study trip, we were dropped off in the Old Town, where we were joined by our partners from Greece. Together, we visited one of the most well-known and imposing churches: St. Peter’s Church. From its tower, we had the opportunity to enjoy a stunning view of the city, crossed by the Daugava River. We ended the day feeling enriched by all the beautiful sights we had the opportunity to see.

Interculturality was the main focus of today’s activities. We started by playing UNO with the students from Italy and Greece (we had a lot of fun and developed our social skills). After a short break, we wrote our recycling resolutions on daisy petals and created a flower. This activity was followed by a short quiz containing questions about Latvia (Riga, the school, sustainability). After lunch, we were impressed by the performances prepared by the talented students of Jaunmārupes Pamatskola (traditional dance, contemporary dance, and choir). Then, we had the chance to dance along with the other students and teachers to traditional music from different countries. We really enjoyed the little party and had a great experience, as it was a fun way to gain a deeper insight into other cultures. We ended the day with a small gathering we had all been looking forward to. We were honoured to be invited, along with the other participants, to the home of one of the Latvian students. The hosts made us feel at home, like we were part of a big family. After this day, we feel even more connected.

The second day(29.04.2025) of Erasmus+ is presentation day. We once again embarked on the bus to Jaunmārupes Pamatskola, where we spent our morning learning more about the waste and recycling management system in the participant countries. After this experience, we went on a tour in the woods surrounding the school, where we developed our multiple intelligence through music and instruments. We also stopped at the school's football field, where we played a few outdoor icebreaking games, thus getting to know each other better. After the lunch offered by the school, the CEO of Silmachy cosmetics thaught us about the importance of biodegradable packaging and environmental friendly products. Once again, the latvian students showed us the welcoming nature of their country, inviting us on a long walk trough the hidden streets of Riga.

At last, the final mobility of the Erasmus+ project began(28.04.2025-02.05.2025). We found ourselves lost in the narrow streets of Riga, Latvia. In the morning, at 8:30, we boarded the "Erasmus" bus. Why the "Erasmus" bus? Because when we hopped on, we met other teachers and students(from Italy, Turkey and Greece) who were also part of the project. After a long ride filled with beautiful views, we arrived at one of the most fascinating schools we have ever seen, Jaunmārupes Pamatskola. In the auditorium, we were welcomed with tables showcasing each country’s cultural heritage (ours was definitely one of the best!). After connecting with the other participants and learning more about Latvia, we embarked on a school tour and explored various practical classrooms and sports facilities, including fields and even a swimming pool. We also participated in some team activities in the sports hall.Afterwards, we enjoyed a nutritious lunch in the canteen. We then divided into three groups and took part in interactive workshops: we engraved sand designs on glass jars, learned to play the ukulele, and took a test to determine our CO2 footprint (the results were surprisingly positive for nature!). We also had the opportunity to observe the school's choir rehearsal. After leaving the school, we explored the Old Town, admiring its impressive streets and one of a kind architecture. We admired famous landmarks such as The Three Brothers and several historic cathedrals.

The Erasmus+ mobility in Cremona, Italy, organized within the project “Climate Action Starts From Local Level,” was a memorable experience that gave us the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and broaden our horizons in an international context. Over the course of a week filled with educational and cultural activities, we had the chance to interact with students from other countries, discover new perspectives on environmental protection, and take on the role of promoters of ecological and cultural values. The activities included presenting a project about organic farming in Romania, visiting locations that promote environmentally responsible methods, such as the Martino Rossi company, a cow farm, and an olive oil factory, as well as participating in practical workshops at the agricultural institute in Cremona, where we prepared cookies using a special type of non-GMO wheat flour.

Alongside the educational aspect, the mobility also offered us numerous moments of human connection and cultural exploration through friendships made with students from other countries and visits to the cities of Cremona, Crema, and Milan. Discovering the local architecture, the Italian atmosphere, and especially the Stradivarius Museum, completed this unique experience, where learning and discovery blended harmoniously. We believe that participating in this project not only enriched our knowledge but also motivated us to look with greater responsibility towards our common future, where care for the environment and openness to intercultural exchange are essential.

Since there was no performance related to the theme of ecophobia during the mobility in Turkey, it was decided to stage it during this visit. Rehearsals began at 9 AM, while the teachers attended a meeting led by Cornelia to assess the current situation in light of the project’s upcoming conclusion. We reviewed the strengths and areas for improvement of this mobility. After the meeting, the play was performed by six students (one from each country), followed by a certificate award ceremony and a feedback session. The day continued with a visit and lunch at La Gallotta farm in Crema, a tour of the school’s laboratories where beer is produced, a visit to the hydroponic greenhouse, and a guided tour of the city of Crema.

On the fourth day, we visited the oil producer company Manestrini on Lake Garda that produces oil of excellent quality and also has a production of organic oil, where we learned about the ecological process of oil production, from harvesting to filtering and storage, highlighting the sustainable methods used.
After that, we went to the city of Salò, Lake Garda, an example of a protected natural ecosystem with stunning landscapes, and we learned about local biodiversity.

During the third day, we visited a cereal factory, where we had an initial meeting with the company's manager, Martino Rossi. He introduced us to the fundamental principles of generating higher profits by using fewer resources. We learned that through agriculture, innovation, and organic practices, it is possible to ensure both our comfort and the conservation of the planet’s resources, with technology reducing water consumption by up to 50%.

After exploring the area dedicated to experiments on various plants, aimed at ensuring continuous development and improving agriculture to cope with climate change, we went to a cow farm. There, we were shown the specific conditions for each age group of the animals, as well as the modern method of milk extraction, using advanced equipment.

Back at school, we took part in numerous workshops alongside students and teachers, who guided us throughout the activities. One of the workshops was dedicated to learning about the different types of honey and their production process.

In the evening, we visited the Violin Museum in Cremona, where we discovered many interesting aspects of the manufacturing process of this instrument, as well as its history, starting with the three great families of luthiers: Stradivari, Amati, and Guarneri.

The second day of the Erasmus mobility in Cremona, Italy, was an unforgettable experience.
We started the day at the Cremona railway station, where we took a train to Milan. Once we arrived in the metropolis known for its stunning urban landscapes, we were captivated by the beauty of the Duomo and the fascinating history of the Sforzesco Castle. After these cultural experiences, we relaxed in Sempione Park, where we enjoyed the natural surroundings and the friendly company of squirrels. The day went on with a stop at the Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) – an iconic symbol of sustainability and a remarkable example of green architecture, which impressed us with its ingenuity.

Monday, 7th April

The first day of the Erasmus exchange in Cremona, Italy, was full of energy and discoveries! We started at school with an interactive game to get to know each other better, and then each country – Romania, Turkey, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, and Greece – presented a PPT about organic farming in their own country. After a delicious lunch at a local pizzeria, we explored the city on a guided tour, admiring the authentic Italian atmosphere. One day before, when we arrived in the city, we attended a religious concert, in a church, to live a unique experience.
