Dear students of the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, you are invited to take advantage of a new opportunity to gain knowledge and get in touch with specialists in the Oil & Gas Industry.
"Beyond the Equation 2024" is an event initiative organized by the SPE Romanian Section for Student Chapters that are part of the section.
During this event, students will enhance their theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the challenges associated with the various roles of specialists involved in the oil & gas sector. It will be a fascinating journey from geology, geophysics, and geochemistry to reservoir engineering, well completion, production, and stimulation.
Last but not least, you will learn how to maximize your chances of becoming a part of this industry after graduation.
The event will take place at "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University in Iasi, Faculty of Geography and Geology, Department of Geology during April 1-2, 2024.
We are waiting for you on Monday, April 1, 2024, in the B6 amphitheater starting at 10:00 a.m. and on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in the B568 room at the same time.

It is with great excitement to announce the beginning of another edition of our SPE Mentoring Program!
We heard your feedback and after a short wait, we are ready to launch the 8th edition. Now, more than ever you are invited to join our cause and mentor others in an effort of strengthening the energy industry! Our students need support and this is the chance to give them what we may never had the chance to have.

Our mission: To facilitate the transition from Student to Young Professional, help our students gain academic direction, provide the opportunity to obtain industry insight and career guidance from industry experts, motivate, coach, and prepare them for change.
Join the Mentoring Program. It can be fun and it gives perspective and opportunity for both mentors and mentees! The 2024 Mentoring Program is the chance to make a change!

I’d like to make you aware of the SPE Student Technical Conference organised by the SPE University of Clausthal Chapter and SPE German Section. The event takes place on 8th – 10th November in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany. The organisers advise participants to register by 17th August.

Six SPE Sections in Europe and two Technical Sections have joined forces to organise this 3rd edition of the SPE Europe Energy GEOHackathon. This outstanding series of events have the goal to educate and disseminate knowledge to all participants about how Data Science applications can help Geothermal Energy Developments and accelerate the energy transition.

SPE EUROPE ENERGY GEOHACKATHON 2023 FORMAT:

Bootcamp sessions - October 2nd to November, 2023 (4 weeks):
A four-week set of bootcamp sessions on data science and geothermal energy will begin on October 2nd, 2023. Data scientists and industry experts will deliver weekly sessions to equip participants with the relevant technical knowledge to understand the challenge and get ready for the Hackathon.

Hackathon challenge - November to December, 2023 (4 weeks):

WHY JOIN?

A data-driven prediction and ML classification of reservoir properties from seismic data and well logs can enable solutions for:

• computationally efficient workflows to interpret large volume of dataset obtained from seismic campaigns

• identifying new features and facies using unbiased AI workflows contributing to geothermal field developments

• speeding up the interpretation of the seismic data

• being part of the energy transition and helping build a stronger energy future

Apart from the United States and Canada and to a lesser extent China, is the only country where shale type reservoirs are being developed with great success. The presentation begins with the global geopolitical context, going through certain characteristics of unconventional reservoirs to then introduce **ta and what has been achieved to date, mainly dedicating a large part to showing the enabling technologies that have made these developments possible. Finally, it closes with an economic analysis of this type of project that, if not well understood, can be a technical success but an economic failure.
