Student Treanță Cătălin-Andrei from the Romanian Naval Academy is participating between 22 April - 24 August 2026 in an international training deployment organized by the Portuguese Naval Forces, alongside 37 Portuguese naval cadets. 🇵🇹

The itinerary of the deployment includes the following ports: Lisbon (Portugal) – Setúbal (Portugal) – Funchal (Portugal) – New York (USA) – Hamilton (USA) – Baltimore (USA) – New York (USA) 📍 – Boston (USA) – Bedford (USA) – Angra/Praia da Vitória (Portugal) – Ponta Delgada (Portugal) – Lisbon (Portugal). 🌍⚓

While his colleagues from the Romanian Naval Academy are carrying out their annual sea training onboard TS Mircea, student Treanță Cătălin-Andrei is experiencing this important stage of professional development in an international environment, alongside his new Portuguese colleagues and a crew of 143 personnel.

As the only international student participating in the deployment, he has become part of a unique multinational experience focused on cooperation, adaptability, and operational training at sea. After departing from Lisbon on 30 April, the ship is currently arrived in New York on 27 May, marking the first major stage of a complex and demanding training deployment.

During the voyage, the cadets have taken part in numerous practical training activities, including live-fire exercises with the 12.7 mm Browning machine gun, emergency steering control simulations, “man overboard” recovery procedures, and onboard firefighting drills. In addition, students attended presentations and professional briefings delivered by the ship’s departments, covering areas such as navigation, communications, logistics, artillery, electronics, mechanics, and medical support.

Between 18-22 May 2026, the Romanian Naval Academy "Mircea cel "Mircea cel Bătrân" hosted the 𝑩𝑰𝑷 𝒎𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒆 “𝑴𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑪”, bringing together 26 students, including international participants from Greece 🇬🇷, Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Poland 🇵🇱, and Croatia 🇭🇷.

The program provided an interactive and dynamic training environment focused on developing leadership abilities, resilience, teamwork, and adaptability in demanding operational contexts. Through a combination of theoretical sessions and practical activities, participants strengthened both their physical and mental preparedness for military challenges.

The practical activities, organized in the 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒃𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒍𝒕𝒂, included physical preparation exercises such as swimming and long-distance running, efficient body warm-up methods, and survival techniques designed to improve endurance, discipline, and self-confidence. Participants also engaged in simulated shooting exercises using different types of weapons, as well as grenade-throwing simulations, with a strong emphasis on stress management, self-control under pressure, and decision-making in complex situations.

An important aspect of the module was the exchange of experience between students from different military and cultural backgrounds, encouraging cooperation, communication, and multinational teamwork. 🌍

👏 Appreciation goes to all students, instructors, and organizers whose involvement contributed to the success of this international training experience.

⚓ A valuable step in shaping future military leaders prepared to face the challenges of modern security environments.

The program included both an online component, focused on military leadership and team management in the land operational environment, and a residential phase held in Greece at Hellenic Army Academy, where the students took part in the "𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑀𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑟𝑦 𝐿𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒" alongside professors and participants from Spain 🇪🇸 Bulgaria 🇭🇺 the United States 🇺🇸 Poland🇮🇩 and Romania 🇷🇴.

During the practical activities, the students applied their theoretical knowledge in offensive and defensive tactical exercises conducted using maps of the Athens area, while also developing skills related to land operations and military map analysis.

The experience represented a valuable opportunity for professional development, highlighting the importance for future officers to continuously learn, adapt, and broaden their knowledge, regardless of their field of expertise.
