Ovidius University of Constanța (OUC) recently organized, within the framework of the Erasmus Mobility as Micro-credential (ERASMUSNESS) project, a focus group on the recognition of non-technical skills developed through international mobility experiences.

The online event brought together 12 members of the university staff: academic staff, faculty secretariat personnel, and representatives of other administrative structures.

"The focus group aimed to highlight the non-technical skills acquired by participants in Erasmus+ mobilities and how these have influenced their professional paths. Among the most frequently mentioned were intercultural communication, language skills, adaptability, teamwork, and leadership. Participants emphasized that these abilities provided them with greater flexibility and a dynamic approach in their professional activity. The most common form of recognition was the institutional annual evaluation. For the future, the project consortium aims to create a standardized certification framework through the introduction of official badges and micro-credentials to validate these competences," said Assist. Prof. Dr. Răzvan-Ionuț Drugă, the project manager from UOC.

The purpose of the Erasmus Mobility as Micro-credential (ERASMUSNESS) project is to identify, assess, and recognize the non-technical competences (soft skills) that students and staff in higher education institutions develop during Erasmus+ mobilities.

The ERASMUSNESS project, contract no. 101185363, with funding of €400,000 through the European Erasmus+ Programme (Cooperation Partnerships in the fields of education, training, and youth presented by European NGOs), is being implemented between 01.11.2024 and 31.12.2026 by a consortium consisting of: Ovidius University of Constanța (Romania), garagErasmus Foundation (Italy – project leader), Czech Technical University (Czech Republic), National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (France), University of Siena (Italy), and Dokimazo (Italy).
