🇬🇧 Each edition of the Cluj Modern Contemporary Music Festival dedicates one day to musicological research, and this year’s symposium was hosted by CRCEEM and coordinated by Oana Andreica.

The theme, “The Sound of the Present: Discourses, Styles, and Interpretive Practices in Contemporary Music,” was reflected in the diversity of the selected topics. In addition to the musical analyses and biographical aspects, which are always present at such events, we were delighted to receive insights into the use of artificial intelligence, details regarding performance (with demonstrations by pianist Raluca Rad), and what it entails to manage an ensemble (not just any ensemble, but Ensemble Couleurs led by Alexandru Ștefan Murariu).

We also thank Cristian Bence-Muk, the Festival’s artistic director, for the opportunity and for the support!

🇹🇩 Ziua a doua a International Conference: Transcultural Interactions in Central and East European Music ne-a demonstrat din nou cm conceptele-cheie de est-vest, centru-periferie cer o permanentă reevaluare când devin parte a discursului (trans)cultural.

🇬🇧 Day two of our conference showed once more how the key concepts of East-West, centre-periphery demand a continuous reassessment when they become part of the (trans)cultural discourse.

🇬🇧 From the founders of musicological schools to popular music behind the Iron Curtain, from the circulation of Byzantine manuscripts to the survival of religious music under communism, the first day of our inaugural conference opened up a wide space for dialogue, which we continue to explore today.
