More than 30 children and teenagers from Cincu, Romania, are about to embark on an unusual challenge - a challenge: creating an exhibition about their community.
Over the next few days, as part of the Restory Youth Summer School, they will explore local history, collect stories and memories, and decide what they feel is worth remembering, preserving and sharing about Cincu.
The result will be "Cincu, Tell Me Your Story!"- an exhibition shaped by their discoveries, conversations and perspectives from interactions with people from their village. Come and support the young people and children; visit and discover the people, places, memories, and stories they chose to tell.
The summer school combines games and team-building activities, workshops on oral history and storytelling, learning about Cincu's history, and field research in the community. Most of the programme is led by the Restory team from the Institutul de Istorie Orală Cluj-Napoca (UBB), who guide the children and teenagers in discovering Cincu through stories, memories and conversations with community members. C.School complements this journey with workshops on storytelling and sharing stories with an audience.
We are grateful to our local partners KraftMade, the Municipality of Cincu, and the Fuga Lolelor Cincu // Großschenker Urzellauf Association for this community event. A special „thank you” to them for bringing together young people, children, local stakeholders and community resources, and for helping create the conditions for these stories to be discovered and shared.
