Are you a medical student passionate about surgery and research?
Do you want to reach the next level of your surgical skills?
Do you want to make new friends and share your ideas?
This is the course you’ve been waiting for!
The Romanian Student Society of Surgery (SSCR), Cluj-Napoca Branch, in collaboration with the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, invites you in Transylvania, Romania, to spend 6 unforgettable days (20th-26th of July 2025) learning about experimental microsurgery, making new friends and discovering a city with almost 2000 years of history!
Skip boring and endless theoretical classes, come and see the world from a different perspective through the surgical microscope. This is the best chance for students to develop skills useful and absolutely necessary as a future resident/surgeon that depends on microsurgery or as someone who wants to have a career in experimental surgery. In the meantime, this course tries to create a relaxed, but also professional working atmosphere, that would allow the students to fulfill their educational goals and get to know other colleagues from other international medical centers, working as a team, building friendships, leading to better relationships between universities and setting the foundation for future national and international projects.
• hands on - microsurgical experience
• research steps - Why? When? How?
• more than 20 hours of working under the surgical microscope
• best opportunity for students to try microsurgery
• you get to work with some of the best instruments.
• the chance to simulate a real-life surgery on a Wistar rat placed under general anesthesia
Subjects:
• Anatomy bases of animals used in experimental research
• Anesthetic techniques
• Drug administration methods
• Biological sample collection
• Preservation and monitoring of experimental animals
• Ethics, Statistics and Research
• Microsurgery basics:
o surgical microscope
o special microsurgery instruments
o microsurgical knots
o microsurgical sutures
• Vascular and nerve anastomosis on biological material (chicken leg and Wistar rat)
Not to mention, all the above activities will take place in a professional and friendly environment!

Our microsurgery camp isn't all work and no play - we make sure to have fun too! Our social day is filled with exciting activities like exploring the city, hiking, and bonding with fellow students from around the world.
Interested to find out more or to register? Check the link in our bio!🩺

At our microsurgery camp, we believe in giving our students the most realistic training possible. That's why we teach them how to suture arteries of Wistar rats placed under anesthesia - it's the closest thing to real surgery! 😄
03/05/2023
Learning to suture on live tissue can be intimidating, which is why our microsurgery camp starts off with a practice round on a femoral artery and nerve on a chicken leg. Our students will be well-prepared to handle a real arterial anastomosis by the end of the week! 🤗
22/04/2023
We're counting down the days until our microsurgery camp begins! Our students will be practicing their suturing skills on latex using the Sun Lee Disk, just like the pros. Stay tuned for more updates! 👍🏻
