🚶‍➡️ 📖 🧪 Visit our Lab: Molecular Nutrition and Proteomics Research Laboratory
The Molecular Nutrition and Proteomics Laboratory at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca conducts advanced research on gene-nutrient interactions, epigenetic pathways, and the impact of dietary components on health and disease. The lab uses cutting-edge molecular techniques to explore how diet influences gene and protein expression and metabolic processes.
A key focus is the molecular interaction between food and health, including micro(nano)encapsulation technologies to improve the bioavailability, stability, and targeted delivery of bioactive compounds. These encapsulation strategies enhance the controlled release of probiotics and nanobiotics, with applications in functional foods, pharmaceuticals, and biomedical interventions.
The lab also investigates the relationship between social environments and food choices. It employs ADME-tox-PDMK, a comprehensive approach that assesses Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity using in vitro tests to ensure ingredient safety. By exploring the gene-diet-health nexus, the lab contributes to innovations in nutrition, healthcare, and biomedicine.
