New York has a particular way of reminding us that ambition, discipline, and excellence can belong to the same conversation.

We started the American journey of this year’s edition of the Strategic Governance and Board Leadership Program with the executive education component developed in partnership with Columbia Business School Executive Education.

For our participants, this is more than an academic experience. It is a moment of reflection, dialogue, and learning at the highest level.

Good governance becomes visible in decisions, in leadership, in the courage to ask the right questions, and in the discipline to build institutions that can perform over time.
The value created here will extend beyond the classroom, returning to the companies represented in the program through the people shaping their strategic direction and governance culture.

Strategic governance is, ultimately, about preparing leaders not only to understand complexity but also to act with the right perspective within it.

Responsabilitatea de a construi o experiență de student coerentă, predictibilă și valoroasă

Administrația universitară nu ar trebui privită doar ca un ansamblu de proceduri, ci ca o infrastructură de sprijin pentru dezvoltarea academică și profesională a fiecărui student.

Din această perspectivă, UBB-FSEGA introduce două formulare standardizate, bilingve, în limba română și în limba engleză, disponibile direct în platforma FSEGA SIS dedicată studenților.

Prin această nouă facilitate, orice student poate solicita servicii administrative prin completarea unui singur formular predefinit, clar și accesibil, selectat în funcție de natura solicitării.

În termeni practici, acest lucru înseamnă mai puțin timp alocat pregătirii, transmiterii și soluționării cererilor administrative, respectiv mai multă claritate, predictibilitate și echitate pentru întreaga noastră comunitate studențească.

Fiecare student FSEGA, indiferent de naționalitate, program de studii sau formă de învățământ, merită acces simplu, rapid și echitabil la resursele administrative ale facultății.

Această schimbare poate părea o îmbunătățire tehnică, dar implicațiile sale sunt mai ample: o administrație universitară modernă trebuie să fie clară, incluzivă și orientată spre soluții.

Responsabilitatea noastră este să construim o experiență de student care respectă timpul, energia și diversitatea comunității pe care o servim.

O economie nu trebuie să se prăbușească pentru a avea probleme. Uneori, pur și simplu încetează să mai avanseze.

Stagnarea economică reprezintă o perioadă prelungită de creștere economică slabă sau inexistentă, asociată adesea cu investiții reduse, productivitate lentă, salarii stagnante și oportunități economice limitate.

ℹ️ Pe scurt:
• Creștere lentă ≠ recesiune.
• O economie stagnantă poate continua să crească ușor, dar prea lent pentru a îmbunătăți semnificativ nivelul de trai.

💡 De ce contează:
Atunci când economia stagnează, veniturile cresc mai greu, firmele investesc mai puțin, iar generațiile tinere pot găsi mai puține oportunități pentru carieră, locuințe sau stabilitate financiară.

Întrebare:
Ce crezi că este mai periculos pe termen lung: inflația ridicată sau perioadele lungi de stagnare economică?

A meaningful day with the European Accounting Association (EAA) community.

Today, May 27, 2026, I participated in the EAA Board Meeting, hosted by the Prague University of Economics and Business.

This meeting was a special moment for me, as it marked my first participation in this capacity, in the new mandate that began in May 2025, immediately after the EAA Annual Congress in Rome. I am honored to contribute to the work of the EAA as Board Member and National Representative for Romania.

The meeting brought together members of the EAA Board for important discussions on the governance, activity, and future development of the Association.

A few ideas stayed with me after today’s discussions:

🌍 The sustainability of the EAA as an academic association is essential, especially in the current global context.

🤝 Stronger engagement with the EAA is both necessary and welcome, from current members as well as from future members of our academic community.

🎓 The development of young academics remains a major priority, and the Accounting Resources Centre (ARC) is an excellent platform for supporting doctoral students, early-career researchers, and the next generation of accounting scholars.

Grateful for the opportunity to represent Romania in this European academic forum and to contribute, together with colleagues from across Europe, to the continued development of the EAA.

Dacă statul cheltuiește mai mult decât încasează, diferența se numește deficit bugetar.

Deficitul bugetar apare atunci când cheltuielile publice depășesc veniturile publice într-o anumită perioadă.

ℹ️ Pe scurt:
• A cheltui mai mult decât încasezi ≠ întotdeauna ceva rău.
• Dar deficitele persistente cresc datoria publică.

💡 De ce contează:
Deficitele de azi pot însemna taxe mai mari, cheltuieli reduse sau împrumuturi mai mari mâine. În timp, ele influențează stabilitatea economică, dobânzile și creșterea economică.

Întrebare: Crezi că guvernele ar trebui să reducă rapid deficitul sau să-l folosească pentru a susține economia în perioade dificile?

On Europe Day, we celebrated more than a date. We celebrated a direction. 🇪🇺

I had the pleasure of joining the conference dedicated to Romania’s accession to the OECD, organized in Cluj-Napoca by the Organization of Student Economists within UBB FSEGA.

It was a beautiful way to honor Europe Day: in the academic community, among students, and together with distinguished guests from politics, business, academia, and civil society.

What gave me the most confidence was the presence of so many young people who were interested, curious, and involved.

Their questions and energy remind us that the new generation understands its role in society and wants to be part of building Romania’s future.

Romania’s path toward the OECD is not only about accession. It is also about reforms, responsibility, and consistency.

It determines us to improve, to restructure where needed, and to support changes that benefit both the economy and society. And this must be done with coherence, across political lines, and with a long-term perspective.

Being part of a community such as the OECD determines a country in the best possible way: to respect standards of quality, performance, and responsibility.

These standards challenge us.
They discipline us.
They help us become better.

And that is why this path matters.

A very meaningful reunion this week with Professor Mary Margaret Frank, Dean of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Together with my colleagues from the UBB delegation and the participants in the fourth edition of the Leading and Managing Innovation program, we had the pleasure of reconnecting and reflecting on the strong collaboration between UBB FSEGA and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.

I am grateful to Mary Margaret Frank for her continued support in developing this executive education program and for her openness in strengthening our broader academic partnership, including welcoming our doctoral students into the doctoral program at UNC KFBS.

It was also truly impressive to discover the new building on the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School campus. A space designed not only for learning, but for community, interaction, and authentic academic life, very much in the vibe of American universities.

Partnerships grow through people, trust, and shared values. This visit was another strong confirmation of that.
