The Project “Braille challenge” is an Erasmus+ project, Key Action 2, funded by the European commission.

The project address specificities of learning Braille from the perspective of parents of visual impaired children, teachers, and non-formal educators from NGO sector. Specific project objectives:

#1: Fostering quality improvements and excellence in education, through enhanced transnational cooperation between education and training providers and other stakeholders.
#2: Fostering lifelong learning

Final meeting of the Braille Challenge strategic partnership brought together Views international , Babilon Travel NGO and project coordinator Lifelong Learning Network Macedonia to discuss conclusions of the project and make future plans.

The “Braille Challenge” project partners will hold the third kick-off meeting on May 25-28 in Cluj Napocha, Romania. The project is co-founded by the Erasmus plus Program of the European Commission, Key Action 2.

The project "Braille Challenge" is implemented by a Consortium of 3 partners from 3 European countries (Macedonia, Romania and Belgium).

Main objective of the project is teaching the parents of visual impaired children, teachers, and non-formal educators from NGO sector the characteristics of visual impaired persons and methodology of learning Braille alphabet.

The partners will meet in Cluj Napocha, Romania to discuss the final activities and plan the last steps of the project "Braille Challenge".

The second learning, teaching, training activity of our project BRAILLE challenge was implemented in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, between April 11-15, 2022. The 21 parents and family members of visually impaired/blind youngsters developed competences regarding the use Braille, soft and hardware applications and tools.
There were practical workshops on using Braille machines, and various smart gadgets that can contribute to a better inclusion of blind/visually impaired youngsters in education and on the labor market.
The participants had also the opportunity to visit the Special High School for Visually Impaired Cluj-Napoca and the Department for Disabled Students of the Babes Bolyai University.

Second project transnational meeting in Liège

From April 5th until April 6th 2022, partner organisations Babilon Travel NGO, Lifelong Learning Network Macedonia and Views international meet in Liège, Belgium to discuss project ongoing activities and plan the last steps of the project "Braille Challenge".

Overview of our activities during the training activity in Liège

Our C1 activity - LTTA in Liège, Belgium dedicated to learning Braille and sharing experiences related to visual impairment is coming to an end.

Unfortunately our colleagues from Lifelong Learning Network Macedonia couldn’t join the event due to C-19 rules, but the teams from Babilon Travel NGO and Views international have met during December 13 to December 17 2021.

Thanks to a variety of different activities, experienced educators and aspiring educators have:
- learned more about the specificities of visual impairment,
- did pré Braille activities, Braille learning and writing
-had mind blowing encounters with local association of the Blind, La Lumière Oeuvre Royale pour Aveugles et Malvoyants thanks to
- had information about Braille standards from Braille Autoriteit president, Mr. Bart Simons
- had an encounter with Mr. Reiner Delgado and got useful information about what the Braille group within / EBU is doing to support Braille learning
- and enjoyed the hosting city Liège, Belgium
