Renovation Update – Day 10 🛠️💛

Hello, dear friends!

Two full weeks of work, sweat, and dedication have come to an end. Today we managed to move everything that was left in the two previous buildings. It's an important step, one that feels like a small victory after so much effort put in day after day.

Upstairs, everything has landed exactly where it belongs, in the right rooms, so now comes the decorating stage, the part where the spaces come to life and start to look like the welcoming place we've always wanted for our children.

Downstairs, things stand a bit differently: intense work is underway on the walls, with the plaster being stripped down so everything can be properly redone from scratch. It's a slower, more demanding stage, but a necessary one for a lasting result.

Good news from today:
🔹 The doors marking off the stairwell were installed.
🔹 The children's lockers arrived, in the school's colors, and honestly, we love them! 😊

Today we were joined by new people, who chose to come and lend us a hand. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts, along with everyone who has been involved so far, we deeply appreciate everyone's time and effort, especially since this work is physically exhausting. We love looking back on each passing day, because we see just how much has been accomplished, but also how much road still lies ahead until we're finished.

Actualizare renovări – ziua 10 🛠️

Bună ziua, tuturor!

S-au încheiat două săptămâni pline de muncă, sudoare și multă dăruire. Astăzi am reușit să mutăm tot ce mai era în cele două clădiri anterioare. Este un pas important, pe care îl simțim ca pe o mică victorie după atâta efort depus zi de zi.

La etaj, lucrurile au ajuns exact unde le este locul, în încăperile potrivite, așa că urmează acum etapa de amenajare, partea în care spațiile prind viață și încep să semene cu locul primitor pe care ni l-am dorit dintotdeauna pentru copiii noștri.

La parter, situația este puțin diferită: aici se lucrează intens la pereți, tencuiala fiind dată jos pentru a putea reface totul corect, de la zero. Este o etapă mai lentă și mai solicitantă, dar necesară pentru un rezultat durabil.

Vești bune de astăzi:
🔹 Au fost montate ușile care delimitează casa scărilor.
🔹 Au sosit dulapurile copiilor, în culorile școlii, și, sincer, ne plac tare mult! 😊

Astăzi ni s-au alăturat oameni noi, care au ales să vină să ne dea o mână de ajutor. Le mulțumim din suflet, la fel ca tuturor celor care s-au implicat până acum, apreciem enorm timpul și efortul fiecăruia, mai ales că munca aceasta este epuizantă fizic. Sperăm să ne refacem cu toții în cele două zile de weekend, pentru a putea continua cu forțe proaspete săptămâna viitoare!

Ne bucuram sa ne uitam in urma la fiecare zi care trece, pentru ca vedem cât de multe s-au realizat, dar și cât de mult drum mai este până la finalizare.

Together, Let's Finish This Renovation🏗️💛

Dear friends,

For almost two weeks now, you've been with us every step of this renovation, you've seen boxes packed, walls torn down, linoleum installed, exhausting moves, and many days where we felt every muscle in our bodies by the time we got to bed at night. We've done all this with joy, because we know who it's for: children who deserve a safe, clean, and welcoming space to learn and grow in.

Today we want to be honest with you: the renovation has ended up costing more than we originally imagined. The walls affected by moisture and mold required much more extensive work than estimated, and this has already gone beyond our current financial capacity. Because of this, we've had to postpone the yard-related work, for now, we'll only be able to put up the fence separating the yard from the parking area.

That's why we humbly ask you to stand with us, so we can complete:
🔹 the full repair of the affected walls (stripping, plastering, painting)
🔹 turning the yard into a proper play space for all ages, from our little ones in kindergarten all the way to our high schoolers
🔹 everything else still needed for this building to finally become the home where our children will learn and grow

Dragi prieteni,

De aproape două săptămâni, ați fost alături de noi la fiecare pas al acestei renovări, ați văzut cutii împachetate, pereți dărâmați, linoleu montat, mutări epuizante și zile în care ne-am simțit fiecare mușchi din corp seara, când ne-am dus la culcare. Am făcut toate acestea cu bucurie, pentru că știm pentru cine o facem: pentru copii care merită un spațiu sigur, curat și primitor în care să învețe și să crească.

Astăzi vrem să fim sinceri cu voi: renovarea a ajuns să coste mai mult decât ne-am imaginat inițial. Pereții afectați de umezeală și mucegai au necesitat lucrări mult mai ample decât s-a estimat, iar acest lucru ne-a depășit deja capacitatea financiară actuală. Din această cauză, am fost nevoiți să amânăm lucrările din curte, deocamdată vom reuși să ridicăm doar gardul de despărțire dintre curte și parcare.

De aceea vă rugăm din suflet să ne fiți alături, ca să putem finaliza:
🔹 refacerea completă a pereților afectați (curățare, tencuială, zugrăvit)
🔹 amenajarea curții ca spațiu de joacă potrivit pentru toate vârstele, de la cei mici de la grădiniță, până la elevii de liceu
🔹 tot ce mai este necesar pentru ca această clădire să devină, în sfârșit, casa în care copiii noștri vor învăța și vor crește

Ne dorim ca fiecare copil, indiferent de vârstă, să aibă un loc afară unde să se joace, să se relaxeze și să socializeze cu ceilalți, un spațiu gândit pentru toți, de la cei mai mici, până la cei mai mari.

Renovation Update – Day 9 🛠️

Hello everyone,

Day 9 will be remembered by how every muscle in our bodies felt tonight, as we stretched out in bed.

The move began today. Alongside our staff, volunteers, parents, and children joined in this shared effort, and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts!

It's a considerable physical effort, and we're grateful for every person who gave their time and energy to be with us today and lend a hand. Even a few of our own students joyfully joined in to help.

Also today, work began on the walls that need attention. This building used to house an archive, and it wasn't properly ventilated — moisture and mold soaked into the walls, and whatever the builders tried to apply simply won't hold. So the walls in most of the ground-floor rooms need to be stripped down to the plaster and completely redone. The team of workers started first thing this morning, taking everything off the walls. It's an enormous amount of work.

The financial effort required for this work has gone beyond our current capacity. The renovation is turning out to cost more than we expected, and at this point we need the support of everyone who wants to be part of this vision, to help us finish the remaining items on our list. Right now, we've had to postpone all the yard-related work — we'll only be able to put up the fence separating the yard from the parking area. Overall, everything has cost more than the initial quotes, so we're considering a fundraising effort to complete this work.

Actualizare renovări – Ziua 9 🛠️

Bună ziua,

O să ne amintim de ziua 9 după cm ne-am simțit toți mușchii din corp seara, când ne-am întins în pat.

Astăzi a început mutarea. Alături de personal, ni s-au alăturat voluntari, părinți și copii în acest efort comun, și le mulțumim din suflet!

Este un efort fizic considerabil, și apreciem fiecare persoană care a dat din timp și energie pentru a fi alături de noi astăzi și pentru a ne ajuta. Chiar și câțiva dintre elevii noștri s-au alăturat cu bucurie, dând o mână de ajutor.

Tot astăzi au început lucrările la pereții care pun probleme. Această clădire a găzduit înainte o arhivă și nu a fost ventilată corespunzător, umezeala și mucegaiul s-au imbibat în pereți, iar orice a încercat constructorul să aplice pur și simplu nu ține. Așa că pereții din majoritatea sălilor de la parter au nevoie să fie curățați până la tencuială și refăcuți complet. Echipa de muncitori a început de dimineață, de la prima oră, să dea jos tot de pe pereți. Este o muncă uriașă.

Efortul financiar necesar pentru această lucrare a depășit capacitățile noastre actuale. Renovarea ajunge să coste mai mult decât ne-am așteptat, și în acest moment avem nevoie de sprijinul fiecărei persoane care vrea să fie parte din această viziune, pentru a ne ajuta să finalizăm celelalte lucruri rămase pe listă. În acest moment, am fost nevoiți să amânăm tot ce înseamnă lucrările din curte. Vom putea pune doar gardul de despărțire a curții de parcare. Per total, toate au costat mai mult decât ofertele inițiale, așa că luăm în considerare o strângere de fonduri pentru a finaliza această lucrare.

Renovation Update – Day 8 🛠️

Hello everyone!

We continue cleaning the new building, while in the old buildings packing has been going "full steam ahead" all day. It might sound like a small thing, said in just a few words, but behind it was a lot of work, a lot of sweat, and a lot of patience from everyone involved.

Honestly, there was no time left for photos yesterday — every minute was dedicated to packing and preparing. Still, we do have a few pictures that capture this moment, with everything packed up and ready for the move.

Looking at these boxes stacked one on top of another, we feel a mix of tiredness and joy, because every packed box means one step closer to this dream that's taking shape day by day.

We know there's still a lot left to do, but we look ahead with hope and confidence, grateful for every person who has lent a hand, whether through work or through kind thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for being with us on this journey, every stage, however small it may seem, brings us closer to the day when the children will step into a new, safe, and welcoming space. 🙏

Ziua 8 de renovări – actualizare 🛠️

Bună ziua tuturor!

Continuăm curățenia în clădirea nouă, iar în clădirile vechi s-a împachetat la foc continuu toată ziua. Poate pare puțin, spus așa în câteva cuvinte, dar în spatele lor a fost multă muncă, mult efort și multă răbdare din partea celor implicați.

Sincer să fim, nu a mai rămas timp nici pentru fotografii ieri, fiecare minut a fost dedicat împachetatului și pregătirii. Totuși, avem câteva imagini care surprind acest moment, cu lucrurile strânse și pregătite pentru mutare.

Ne uităm la aceste cutii puse una peste alta și simțim un amestec de oboseală și bucurie, pentru că fiecare cutie împachetată înseamnă un pas mai aproape de visul acesta care prinde contur zi de zi.

Știm că mai sunt multe de făcut, dar privim înainte cu speranță și încredere, mulțumitori pentru fiecare persoană care a pus umărul, fie prin muncă, fie prin gânduri bune și rugăciuni.

Vă mulțumim că sunteți alături de noi în această călătorie, fiecare etapă, oricât de mică ar părea, ne aduce mai aproape de ziua în care copiii vor păși într-un spațiu nou, sigur și primitor. 🙏

Renovation Update – Day 7 🛠️

Hello everyone! 👋

Tuesday marked the 7th day of renovation. Here's what happened today:

🔹 Cleaning – We continued cleaning out the old buildings and packing things into boxes, getting everything ready for the moment when the moving will be possible.

🔹 Bathrooms – A lot of work went into the bathrooms today: broken toilets were replaced, along with rusted or non-functional faucets. There's still a lot left to do here though, simply because there are so many of them.

🔹 Good news – Today we received a manual stair-climbing system for people with disabilities. It can be used with both a manual or an electric wheelchair.

The images show the largest hall, where the older students will gather, located on the upper floor, along with other areas where linoleum installation has been completed — both in the hallway and in the classrooms.

Because of the large number of bathrooms and rooms, where all the walls need to have the plaster removed completely, this part of the work is taking longer than we expected. We're hoping no further challenges come up, because at this point the sheer volume of repairs is starting to feel overwhelming.

We keep moving forward, trusting that every step brings us closer to finishing.

Marți a fost a 7-a zi de renovare. Iată ce s-a întâmplat astăzi:

🔹 Curățenie – Am continuat curățenia în clădirile vechi și am strâns lucrurile în cutii, pregătind totul pentru momentul în care mutarea va fi posibilă.

🔹 Băile – Astăzi s-a lucrat mult la băi: toaletele sparte au fost înlocuite, la fel și bateriile ruginite sau nefuncționale. Mai este însă mult de făcut aici, pur și simplu pentru că sunt foarte multe.

🔹 O veste bună – Astăzi a ajuns un sistem manual de urcat pe scări, pentru persoane cu dizabilități. Acesta poate fi folosit atât cu scaun manual, cât și cu unul electric.

În imagini este cea mai mare sală în care se vor întâlni cei mari, aflată la etaj, precum și alte locuri unde s-a finalizat montarea linoleului, atât pe hol, cât și în sălile de clasă.

Din cauza numărului mare de băi și camere, unde toți pereții necesită îndepărtarea completă a tencuielii, această parte a lucrării durează mai mult decât ne-am așteptat. Sperăm să nu mai apară alte provocări, pentru că în acest moment volumul de reparații începe să fie copleșitor.

Continuăm să mergem înainte, cu încrederea că fiecare pas ne aduce mai aproape de finalizare.

Renovation Update – Day 6 🛠️

Good evening! 👋

Day 6 is over and, overall, everything looks great! I leave you a short video of the upstairs hallway: the floor is almost ready, and in most of the classrooms the floor is completed. Basically, upstairs we could already start bringing things in — news that makes us very happy!

As with any renovation, however, we also have our challenges. While upstairs things went much faster than we expected, downstairs we are facing some difficulties in a few rooms: the walls are causing problems, and what has been tried so far has not held up. The builder is still testing different repair methods, and that means that all the old plaster has to be removed — which will unfortunately take longer than we initially estimated.

So: upstairs things are going unexpectedly well, but downstairs the challenges related to the walls are requiring us to spend more time and cost more than we initially anticipated.

We also have a heartfelt request: we could really use some more people who can help with the heavy lifting. Even tomorrow there is some heavy lifting to be done if anyone has a few hours in the morning meet us at the new place at 8:00. Any helping hand means a lot to us and helps the work moving and when we carry the load together, it feels lighter. 🙏

A team came today especially for cleaning — we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their effort.

Downstairs, the painting has been done, and the wall that separates the kindergarten from the rest of the school is taking shape nicely.

Bună seara! 👋

Ziua 6 s-a încheiat și, per total, totul arată minunat! Vă las un scurt videoclip cu holul de la etaj: podeaua este aproape gata, iar în majoritatea sălilor de clasă podeaua este finalizată. Practic, la etaj am putut deja să începem să aducem din lucruri - o veste care ne bucură foarte mult!

Ca în cazul oricărei renovări, avem și provocările noastre. În timp ce la etaj lucrurile au mers mult mai repede decât ne așteptam, la parter ne confruntăm cu unele dificultăți în câteva camere: pereții cauzează probleme, iar ceea ce s-a încercat până acum nu a rezistat. Constructorul testează diferite metode de reparare, ceea ce înseamnă că toată tencuiala veche trebuie îndepărtată - si asta, din păcate, va dura mai mult decât am estimat inițial.

Așadar: la etaj lucrurile merg neașteptat de bine, dar la parter provocările legate de pereți ne ia mai mult timp și costă mai mult decât am anticipat inițial.

De asemenea, avem o mare rugăminte: avem nevoie de barbati care ne pot ajuta cu munca grea. Chiar și mâine mai sunt niște lucruri grele de făcut, dacă cineva are câteva ore libere dimineața, ne puteți întâlni la noua locație la ora 8:00. Orice ajutor înseamnă mult pentru noi și ajută la avansarea lucrărilor, iar când ducem povara împreună, se simte mai ușoară.

O echipă a venit astăzi special pentru curățenie - le mulțumim din suflet pentru efortul depus.

La parter, s-a varuit in partea de birouru, iar peretele care separă grădinița de restul școlii prinde contur frumos.

Renovation Update – Day 5 🛠️

Hello everyone! 👋

We can hardly believe it, but a full week of work has just come to an end, with so much accomplished! Looking back, it feels almost impossible that we've done all this in just five days — but we give all the glory to the Lord, and we thank Him for carrying us forward with such strength and provision. 🙏

✨ What happened on Day 5?
🔹 New rack – The new network rack for the building was installed.
🔹 Painting – The first section of the ground floor (offices) has been painted. There's still a lot of painting ahead in the kindergarten rooms.
🔹 Screed – Poured in the remaining spots.
🔹 Linoleum – Installation continues.
🔹 New furniture – The newly purchased kitchen furniture has arrived.

E greu de crezut, că tocmai s-a încheiat o săptămână întreagă de lucru, cu atât de multe realizări! Privind în urmă, ni se pare aproape imposibil să fi reușit toate acestea în doar cinci zile – dar Îi dăm toată slava Domnului și Îi mulțumim că ne-a fost alături, ne-a dat putere si ne-a purtat de grijă. 🙏

✨ Ce s-a întâmplat în Ziua 5?
🔹 Rack nou – A fost instalat noul rack de rețea al clădirii.
🔹 Zugrăvit – A fost finalizată prima parte de la parter (birouri). Mai este mult de zugrăvit în sălile de grădiniță.
🔹 Șapa – A fost turnată în locurile rămase.
🔹 Linoleul – Montarea continuă.
🔹 Mobilier nou – Mobilierul de bucătărie achiziționat recent a sosit în clădire.

O echipă de curățenie va începe probabil în curând să pregătească unele dintre săli, iar mutarea cea mare începe joi! Vă rugăm să ne țineți în rugăciunile voastre, ca totul să meargă conform planului.
Dacă doriți să ne sprijiniți – fie practic, fie prin donații – ar însemna foarte mult pentru noi.

Renovation update – Day 4 🛠️

Hello everyone! 👋

Another day of renovations has come to a successful close. Here's what we accomplished today:

🔹 Screed – We continued pouring the screed that the linoleum will go over. We caught the moment on camera and want to show it to you!

🔹 Door thresholds – In the kindergarten classrooms, the thresholds were modified for the safety of the little ones, so they won't trip.

🔹 First classroom, almost done – The linoleum is installed and we really love the result. All that's left is the cleaning and the actual move-in.

🔹 Spring hinges – The doors have been fitted with spring hinges, which close them automatically.

🔹 Repairs – Small repairs were made to the walls in the old buildings, to leave everything in the best condition.

🔹 New kitchenettes – We purchased kitchenettes, which will be installed in three different locations.

We are very grateful to see how quickly the work is progressing – but just as quickly, the money is going too, and the actual costs have exceeded those in the initial estimates. Ziua 4 de renovări – actualizare 🛠️

Bună ziua! 👋

O nouă zi de renovări s-a încheiat cu succes. Iată ce am realizat astăzi:

🔹 Șapa – Am continuat turnarea șapei peste care va veni linoleul. Am surprins momentul și vrem să vi-l arătăm!

🔹 Pragurile ușilor – La sălile de la grădiniță, pragurile au fost modificate pentru siguranța celor mici, ca aceștia să nu se împiedice.

🔹 Prima sală de clasă, aproape gata – Linoleul este montat și rezultatul ne place foarte mult. Mai rămâne de făcit curățenie și mutarea efectivă.

🔹 Balamale cu arc – Ușile au fost dotate cu balamale cu arc, care le închid automat.

🔹 Reparații – Au fost făcute mici reparații la pereții din clădirile vechi, pentru a lăsa totul în cea mai bună stare.

🔹 Chicinete noi – Am achiziționat chicinete, care vor fi montate în trei locuri diferite.

Suntem foarte recunoscători să vedem cât de repede avansează lucrările – dar, la fel de repede, se duc și banii, iar costurile reale le-au depășit pe cele din ofertele inițiale. Dacă simți că vrei să fii o binecuvantare, să faci parte din această lucrare și să susții viitorul copiilor, te invităm cu drag să contribui printr-o donație, orice sumă contează și ne aduce mai aproape de ziua în care copiii vor păși într-un spațiu sigur și primitor.

Renovation update – Day 3 🛠️

Hello everyone!
Here's what happened today:

🔹 Stage 1 – The Floor
Work continued working on the floor: a pink primer was applied (preparation for the screed), the screed was poured, and now the linoleum is being installed on top of it. As of today, the beautiful part has started: the carpet is being replaced with linoleum, and things are moving along quite quickly.

🔹 Stage 2 – Preparing the Ground-Floor Rooms
The downstairs rooms are being prepared for painting: the walls have been cleaned. The offices are already prepared and painted. Besides the security cameras, the alarm system has also been installed.

🔹 Stage 3 – Repairs and New Doors
Wall repairs are underway, and the frame is being prepared for a new door that will separate the kindergarten from the school.

🔹 Stage 4 – Preparing for the Downstairs Bathroom
The wall for a larger door is ready, for the downstairs bathroom.

Ziua 3 de renovări – actualizare 🛠️

Bună ziua!
Iată ce s-a întâmplat astăzi:

🔹 Etapa 1 – Podeaua
Au continuat lucrările la podea: s-a întins amorsa roz (pregătirea pentru șapă), s-a turnat șapa, iar pe șapă se montează linoleul. De azi a început partea frumoasă: mocheta este înlocuită cu linoleu, iar lucrurile avansează destul de repede.

🔹 Etapa 2 – Pregătirea camerelor de la parter
Camerele de jos sunt pregătite pentru vopsit: pereții au fost curățați. Birourile sunt deja pregătite și vopsite. Pe lângă camerele video, este montat și sistemul de alarmă.

🔹 Etapa 3 – Reparații și uși noi
Se fac reparații la pereți și se pregătește profilul pentru o ușă nouă, care va separa grădinița de școală.

🔹 Etapa 4 – Pregătire pentru baia de jos
Peretele pentru o ușă mai mare este pregătit, pentru baia de la parter.
Ne bucurăm să vedem cât de frumos înaintează lucrurile! Slava Domnului!🙌
