I genuinely think The Hunchback of Notre Dame might be one of the darkest psychological movies Disney has ever made.
It’s about:
• why some people need to control others to feel pure
• why emotionally starved people pedestalize kindness
• why crowds become cruel so easily
• why authority feels safe even when it’s dangerous
• why some men fear women they desire
• why loneliness can exist even inside community
• and why the same woman becomes a savior, a temptation, or an equal… depending on who is looking at her.
I spent an ungodly amount of time making this deep dive and honestly… I think it’s one of the most important things I’ve made so far.

In certain practices this is called felt sense. A pre-verbal, bodily knowing that exists before language catches up to it.
And the faster and more holistic your processing, the harder it becomes to retrace the steps you took to get there.
Which is exactly why pattern recognition is such a deeply internal process. All of it — the noticing, the connecting, the predicting — it happens inside of you.
Nobody has access to it, and so I often found myself unable to communicate effectively… continue from here
