We are a small, friendly and happy school with a strong sense of community. Respect, tolerance, creativity, and independent learning are a priority at IBSB as we understand that a good education is not only about exam results, but also the emotional and social development of our children. In addition to a strong academic programme, we are able to offer our children a rich extracurricular calendar,

IBSB pupil recruited by Goldman Sachs 🙌🎓

We are always proud to welcome back our IBSB alumni — and this week, we had the pleasure of catching up with Medeea Constantinescu (Class of 2023).

An outstanding student during her time at IBSB, Medeea achieved A* grades at IGCSE and A grades at A Level, while also serving as Deputy Head Girl. She went on to study Economics at Bocconi University, one of Europe’s leading institutions and a recognised pathway to top global firms such as Goldman Sachs.

From early on, Medeea was determined to pursue a career in Mergers & Acquisitions. Through dedication and hard work, she built an impressive profile — including work experience at Morphosis Capital, a summer internship at Raiffeisen Bank, and representing Romania at the International Economics Olympiad, where she earned a Silver Medal.

We are delighted to share that Medeea has now been selected as one of just 20 candidates worldwide to join Goldman Sachs after graduation.

Reflecting on her journey, Medeea highlighted that while top universities open doors, what truly sets candidates apart is excellence beyond academics — from competitions and internships to achievements in sport and the arts.

We are incredibly grateful for her visit and even more excited that she will return in September to share her experience and advice with our students.

IBSB pupils perform at world’s largest Shakespeare festival🙌

This year, six very lucky pupils from the International British School of Bucharest had the honour of being invited to perform on stage at the Craiova Shakespeare Festival, which has been running for 30 years and is now officially the largest Shakespeare Festival in the world, with more than 500 lectures, workshops, and live performances from 81 countries over 10 days, from May 20-31.

The pupils were 1 of just 5 troupes invited to perform an original script from hundreds of submissions from a worldwide competition, premiering 'What Can Be Postponed', by author Ana Oprea Liferi.

It was an incredible life-changing experience for our pupils, which included VIP passes to watch any of the plays on offer: the pupils chose to watch Hamlet in Georgian (With English subtitles), a dance performance of Othello, an interactive performance of King Lear by an American troupe, and modern rendition of Two Gentlemen of Verona in Spanish (also with English subtitles for those not fluent in Spanish).

We would like to thank the following: our dedicated drama teacher, Leah Fisher, for going the extra mile in supporting our pupils afterschool and on the weekend to be ready for opening night; Mirela Gaman, event organisers extraordinaire, for her hospitality and wonderful organisation skills throughout our trip; and Vlad Dragulescu, the festival Director, for his kind invitation and vision to open up the next edition of the festival to British Schools from around the world in the spring of 2028, offering the pupils from IBSB the opportunity to pave the way in this year’s 2026 edition.

🎓 Mathematics, Mastered 🎓
A huge congratulations to Andrei Peli on receiving offers from leading Top 100 universities, including Warwick, Bath, UC Davis, UC San Diego, and securing his place at University College London (UCL) to study Mathematics.

At IBSB, Andrei has excelled academically, achieving an A–A* average at IGCSE, an A average at AS Level, and holding predicted AAA* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. Known for his depth of thinking and originality, he has taken his passion for mathematics beyond the classroom through research, competitions and real‑world applications.

🌟 A remarkable journey ahead at UCL — we can’t wait to see where his talent takes him next.
