We can’t get enough of our Jazz Live Acts • so here we go again! 🍓

This Sunday we invite 🎷 and 🎹.stefan for our Jazz Series #5

An intimate yet dynamic evening, built around the close musical conversation between two friends. A mix of standards, originals, and reimagined songs performed with a balance of intellect and warmth. This project grew out of their collaboration in more usual ensemble formulas and is now ready to see the light of stage in order to add a new dimension to their shared repertoire.

Paolo Profeti is an Italian‑born saxophonist, composer, and arranger who has become a prominent figure in Romania’s contemporary jazz scene after moving to Bucharest in 2013. His central band is the Paolo Profeti European Collective, a cross‑border contemporary‑jazz group that mixes Italian and Romanian musicians and blends jazz with progressive and electronic elements. The Collective has released several albums, including Waiting for Bucharest (2015), Glide (2019), and Peer Out (2024), and regularly appears at jazz clubs and festivals in Romania, Italy, and elsewhere in Europe. Profeti is lead alto and section leader of the Big Band of Romanian National Radio.

Ștefan Stoianovici is a Romanian jazz pianist and composer, active both on the local jazz scene and in contemporary classical and cross‑genre projects. He is primarily known as a bandleader, leading the Ștefan Stoianovici Quartet. His work bridges jazz improvisation, classical forms, and electronic production. He has also written music for theatre and media, as well as pure concert orchestra pieces and jazz arrangements that have been performed by the National Phillarmonic and the Radio Big Band.

SORIN ROMANESCU & STEFAN STOIANOVICI

A night marks the first personal meeting of two different generations of jazz musicians. Sorin Romanescu, a veteran of Romanian jazz since the early 1990s, joins forces with emergent pianist, Stefan Stoianovici for this experimental premiere, building a unique relationship through shared improvisation and dialogue. Together, they bridge tradition and modernity in an intimate setting, exploring jazz’s timeless essence with fresh, personal connection.

———————————————

Sorin Romanescu is one of Romania’s most emblematic contemporary jazz guitarists, blending standards, improvisation, avant-garde, and experimental sounds. Throughout his career, he has performed with musicians from all generations, from pianist Marius Popp and saxophonist Garbis Dedeian to Luiza Zan, Maria Răducanu, Mihai Iordache, Vlad Popescu, Cristian Soleanu, and many others.
